Next Women's Global Event Set for May 2024

The PDGA Women's Committee is excited to announce that the next PDGA Women's Global Event (WGE) will be May 18-19, 2024.

After careful evaluation of the 2022 iteration of the WGE by key stakeholders, including the PDGA Women's Committee, PDGA staff, and event sponsors, the determination was made make WGE an every-other-year event. It will now take place during even-numbered years.

Considerations were made in response to player and TD feedback. This feedback included: 

• Try to find a time when weather is likely to be the most comfortable in most locations. Avoid excessive heat if possible.
• Avoid holiday weekends. In previous iterations of the event, some participants urged the PDGA to move away from Mother's Day.
• Chose a weekend that can be dedicated to WGE and not conflict with PDGA Majors and Elite Series events.
• Avoid TD burnout and maximize fundraising time by keeping the event biannual.
• Maximize staff and volunteer time investment.
• Ensure sustainability for sponsorship partners and event operators.

Overall, the ultimate goal of the WGE is to create a welcoming weekend of disc golf events to support the growth of women's disc golf. By returning to a biannual event, more events can run smoothly, reach more players, and maintain a sustainable presence in their local disc golf communities.
