All divisions have now completed the 72 holes of regulation play at the 2010 European Championships in Pas-de-Calais, France. Of the 214 competitors, 136 have qualified for the honor of competing in Sunday morning’s semi-finals. The battle for the titles will follow, starting early in the afternoon when the 1st of 6 final groups tee off on 9 of the toughest holes on the ball golf course at Ohlain.
Simon Lizotte is in 3rd, 4 off the Open division lead
The biggest story of the week continues to be the play of the Junior division leader and reigning Junior World Champion, Finland’s 16 year old Seppo Paju. At 221 total and 23 under par, his score is still 4 in front of the Open division lead.
British Master Derek Robins
In Open, each of the top 7 players are separated by 2 strokes, with Jesper Lundmark, Karl Johan Nybo, Simon Lizotte, and Markus Källström continue to hold down the top 4 spots. 3 Swedes - Johannes Högberg, Oscar Stenfelt and Henrik Wahlman – will try and steal one of the coveted spots in the final from them.
Sweden's Camilla Jernberg
In the other divisions, Camilla Jernberg continues to hold Birgitta Lagerholm at bay by 3, Belgium’s Marco Lehousse has stretched his lead in Masters to 8, Marko Timonen made up an 8 throw deficit to tie Paul Francz for the lead in Grandmasters, and Bob Mohl continues to be the best of the 4 SGMs.
