How many discs can you carry in a tourney

I've never tried to test my upper limit.

If the course is relatively flat and not too long, I think I could comfortable carry about 266 discs (170 gram avg. = 100 lbs) if I had a large enough bag.

However for hillier courses, I would probably be more comfortable carrying no more than 200 discs.

My bad, I thought that he was looking for a rule about it, not asking us about our physical capabilities :o

Speaking of which, let's not talk about how large a bag we need, OK?

So, How many do you guys carry? I have 15 that I carry, but usually only throw about 11. That includes putters so I can try the putt 4-5 times. I have never competed, this is what I carry any given day.

Ok, I was just being a wise-guy since the question had already been answered correctly (you can carry as many disc as you want in tournament play; the only rule about the number of disc you can or must carry is only an implied rule: you must carry at least 1 disc, which is an implied but not directly stated rule).

I carry between 15-18 disc in my bag. On a typical round at my home course I will throw:
<ul type="square"> Orc for most long drives Buzz for short drives/up shots Putter for...well, putting Firebird for hard hyzer shots [/list]
So I could get away with carrying only 4 discs. But sometimes I throw a roller (DX Valk), or a fairway driver (CE Leopard), or a turn-over disc (JK Pro Valk), or a turn-over mid-range (Breeze)...

In other words, I don't use all the disc I carry. I don't always need all the disc I carry. But I'd rather carry it around and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

Even though it's not written, but probably should be in the Q&A, you should identify the borrowed disc(s) to others in the group for identification. The discs don't have your unique mark on them. However, the committee should probably add the word "your" unique mark to the next update for clarification on the borrowing situation since it's not explicit now. It doesn't mean you would actually need to mark the borrowed disc, just identify the marks on the one(s) you are throwing for that set of holes.

14 is the # I allow in Fly 18 events that is golf.Chose your wepons and no replacing the in round.Any over will cost you a stroke per hole per disc. When we play on my courses and a golfer askes how many discs are you allowed to use and we say 14 there reply is oh just like the # of clubs we are allowed.Follow success and success will follow. For casual play bring as many as you want like golf.If you need more than 14 your game is suffering.Think about your shot ,you only have 14 bullets ,and 18 holes course management is a must........F18

I seriously doubt that there are any fly18 courses at country clubs! I would guess that the great majority are on municipal or private but open to the public courses.

If a country club doesn't let anyone but members and guests use the course, guess how they would treat a fly18 course.

There are numerous people with extremely low numbers that haven't been current in years and probably don't even compete anymore. Just look up some low numbers and see how many are current. Guys with five digit numbers might have been playing daily for years. I've been playing 21 years and have a low number, but only play on the weekend and in tournaments. Plus, I've taken some breaks in there as well. PDGA numbers really have nothing to do with one's experience in the sport. russ3523

Absurd!!!
How many balls are you allowed to carry for a round of golf?
What are the statistics on lost clubs during a round of golf?
How many clubs get damaged to the point where they behave differently during a round? How many clubs become permanently lodged in trees? How many clubs are accidentally thrown into a lake, or up on somebody's roof, or into the street where they get run over, or smashed into a tree at 60 miles an hour???...I could go on and on. Any of the above could happen to a disc in any round of Disc Golf, or, in fact, on any one hole!
Disc Golf is NOT Ball Golf. There are a few similarities, but there are far more differences that you seem all too anxious to overlook. In disc golf, the ball is the disc is the club. Imagine ball golf where you had to throw the clubs at the hole, often as hard as you can throw. Try to finish 18 holes with all 14 clubs intact and their behavior unaltered.
For the above reasons and for many more, I don't see anything wrong with carrying 20-25 discs. Discs are lost and damaged at EVERY tournament in EVERY round.
A disc is capable of hundreds of flight paths. A ball never will be. Various discs behave differently according to a myriad of factors. Disc courses/rules should be designed with these paths and behaviors in mind.

Follow a wrong idea and wrong ideas will follow.

Love to see you hit a double helix with a 3-wood.
