Does anyone know why there aren't any courses in Central Park or any on Long Island? Recently moved back from points west where I discovered DG and need a spot closer than Warwick or Rutgers. Any people form this neck of the woods with any insight? I have free time and would love to try and get at least a nine hole out here, any suggestions for first steps?

Thanks

Seth

Yeah I made it up to FDR last week, it was beautiful....unfortunately I'm on Long Island now which makes it a hell of trip. I spoke to Liz up at FDR an I am trying to put together a proposal for some parks around here......Hempstead Lake Park, Eisenhower Park and points east. Is Bill Newman still around? I know this is the man I need to speak to at this point. I may have to get a portable disc catcher and renegade golf Central Park.

Give me a buzz when you get a chance. I've got some good insights and contacts with regard to Long Island courses...

We played object golf there with Whamo back in the mid 80's. It's a huge park of 800 acres, we used the whole park and our holes were like 1000 feet each on average, with Wham-O.

Yeah, it was great in the 80's, but I doubt he's looking for a course without chains. This is 2006.

But I'm not surprised to see that the total course length is over 8000 feet. That sort of thing happens easily in Prospect Park "big sky country."

In our design in the 80's we tried to have a total course length equal to a ball golf course, maybe 15,000 or 20,000 feet. I would say it was probably the longest frisbee golf course in history, by far.
