we have a player that finished 2006 with a player rating of 931 so he should be a MA1.The same player didnt renew for 2007 but is sighned up for a tournament in M2. I called the TD and he told me the player was not current so the player can play any division. Is he wright or must the player play in MA1? The tournament is a PDGA Bt

TDs can allow players to enter whatever division they want if they are not members. Ideally, the TD would require them to play at their skill level, if known, or even higher.

Huh, wow. I've been telling local guys that aren't current that they have to enter the division their rating says for the past year. Most of them have current ratings since I keep inputting their PDGA # even if they aren't current for a tournament. But yeah, I did not know that. I told them that even though they aren't current, if they don't play to their division they could be dqed.
Silly me.

That's a good policy. Everything you said is valid since it's TD choice. It's just that not all TDs know they can require nonmembers to enter as high of a division as they feel is fair, including Open.
