There's a Springfield in Illinois? ;)

I'm kidding. Yes, the capital of Illinois is Springfield, and everything there is named after Lincoln or Douglas.

That's not true. Just the library, some parks, a few streets and schools, a defunct block party, a large number of businesses, and a chunk of downtown stuck in the 1850's....but other than that...

The only city with a more prominent famous dead guy affiliation is Charlottesville, VA.

There is a bunch of stuff named after Washington and Jefferson and Adams and Iles too!

<font size=1>Okay, you're wondering who Iles is aren't you? Think the real-life Jebidiah Springfield.</size>

There are two Disc Golf courses in Springpatch, Il. They just happen to be located in a Lincoln Park (a good, challenging course by the way) and in a Douglas Park (be sure to park in the right parking lot if you know what I mean.)

Coming someday soon will be a wide open course in Centenial Park. Washington Park is said to be getting a one day temp course in 2008. In summery, not all things are named Lincoln or Douglas in the big city of Springpatch, IL.
