Here's the data thru the June 2008 update. Feldberg's streak will be longer when we do the Sept update but he may have slipped at Timber last Friday.

Wow, you could have given me an over/under for the record at around 40 and I would have taken the under. Very impressive.

Looks like Rico is the only one to have done it for at least 12 months. Doss and Climo came up short by about 2 months.

Feldberg's streak will be longer when we do the Sept update but he may have slipped at Timber last Friday.

The Open players that shot 64 on Monday to put them into 'B' pool had a round rating well below 1000 when the unofficial ratings were accurate before the Shuffle. Feldberg's 63 on Friday will also likely fall below 1000 to ruin his streak. But after winning a World Championship and $6k, I bet he could care less. :D

I'm sure he could care less even if he hadn't won.

I think you might be wrong about that. Dave really does care about his ratings, sets round rating goals and regularly contacts me about issues in that area. As he was working hard for the past year to get the #1 World Ranking, he would occasionally ask advice on what ratings he needed, how the system worked and actually selected or didn't play in an event or two partly for that reason. He just doesn't post here.

ah, well my assumption might have been wrong.

Could have told you that Robert.

Now that Dave's won most of the big championships, it wouldn't surprise me that this streak for rounds above 999 and other types of records would become new goals for motivation. Climo managed to keep his top 10 finish streak alive by hanging on for a 10th place tie at Worlds so he still has goals, too. When he missed a putt on the last hole of the semis, I was told he had the look that he might have blown it for top 10. So these things matter to top players in addition to the championship titles.

Dont let anyone fool you. Everyone cares about ratings.

I'm not fooled at all based on the emails I receive. I'm more amazed by how important some people make them such that they will rack up the throws mid-round so it gets dropped!

Ha I can honestly say that Larry Leonard and Walter Haney do not give a crap about ratings. :D

Not surprising since Walt's not current and Larry's is drooping. It's hard to not care about ratings because it directly means you don't care about your scores. Same thing. Not exactly a competitive stance to take but fine for rec players.

The conditions were tougher but I know I played better the 2nd time because I wasn't playing it blind anymore. :D

Proof of why the ratings are skrewy more wind but a lower SSA. Then again maybe it was easier because we didn't have two 1-hour waits.

Actually there's a very good possibility that his streak already ended on July 12th. The first round of the Brent Hambrick Memorial Open, he shot an 82 on the 27 hole course. An 81 is usually 1000-1005 rated out there.

Yeah but isn't that the round Barry shot poorly at? If so the fact those two shot so bad will give him just enough Borg-bounce to get to 1000+. :D

Barry's low round might not be included though since any propagator shooting more than 60 points below their rating is excluded from the SSA calc.

I think Barry's bad round was on the West Temp course where Borg's round was the first round on the original Hambrick course.
