Has anyone on this board moved from Open status back to Am status regarding PDGA classification?
If so what has been the outcome?
Thanks

They told me no. They said my rating was to high (960). They told me that if next year I was under a 960 they would do it... I paid the extra $$ and got my players card.. It had me rated as a 958.. lol

Has anyone who has accepted cash at an event, been told to give the money back in order to get reclassified?

getting reclassified from pro to am isn't hard. Just contact the pdga. If your rating is low enough, you can ask for reclassification and must go 1 year without excepting cash as a pro. The following year, when you sign up, contact the pdga again, and they will make the one time exception. I'm registered as a pro and have cashed in pro events but I will declining any cash I may win in 2010 so I can play Am in the 2012 Worlds....as least, this what the pdga explained to me.

and there is no truth to the rumor that you have to give cash back.

I came in third last weekend to a 1st place player who had recently gone from Open to MM1 once he turned 40. He threw a 979 and 1002 and took away a nice DGA mini-basket trophy. I don't begrudge him, though - my two 920-ish rounds didn't deserve to win.
