Our sport has struggled (to say the least) to earn the respect I believe it deserves. I would like to thank (even though I didn't listen) Joe Torres for four years of constantly berating me about going Open. As an advanced player I never won or shot a round higher than 986. I shot 1000+ my 1st Open tourney in Tyler, TX '07, and Olshefski and the 'Legend' will vouch for how ecstatic I was. My point is, if you really want to be a great golfer, you will learn twice as much playing Open. I have been getting my 'game' handed to me for 3 years, but I've had the pleasure to see some of the greatest players on the planet ROCK the disc.
In retrospect, I realized I never believed in myself. Losing as a learner is not a loss, it's learning. We need HUGE open fields (props to Oregon, and the East Coast) to ignite 'our' game. The past year or two have been pivotal, and record breaking. The growth is exciting! Believe in the experience of learning, step up, and let's do this!
