Greetings to all ! Can I get a Homey report, pleaseeeeeeee.Good to see you're still active on the web site Jack. What new in KC land? go Chefs!!!! not much out here.Played in Vegas for the Am weekend. Did i say played, i meant sucked.City championships in a couple weeks, 4 couses ,2 days, should be fun. Drop a line if ya got the time.Say hey to all the guys.Still trying to make it out for Gary's Bday poker.probably last minute.

jackinkc
Nov 05 2003, 11:45 AM
Homey has been a slow breed process there Jackal......Some tensions evolved from some people that were trying to play stupidly on the course. IT is a sad affair. There is now a "pro homey based" style that is surfacing, JJ I believe has the doll, it still is passed around, but with all the high placements in the Worlds here, Buckle top 20, Pete, Corbett, Don, top 10, even Lockwood was in the top 36, they all feel that they may be too good to really be the "homey types" especially since Buckle kicked out Jamie Danger one time......

So Homey is sort of in a hibernation. It should be restarted as the winter months hit but who knows.

Just met yesterday with the P&R, was able to lock and load a contract with the City to give us rights in our parks as the main gatekeepers to the land. So we can no officially kick people off the courses as we see fit, can sell beer, and make changes without having to go through a bunch of BS.

Cliff Drive and Blue Valley will be going in VERY SOON! I would expect that we get those in within the next 3-6 months just in time for the leagues to start in my book. You should plan on heading to KC to play in the Wide Open this year Slacker!

Hows the wife and kid? Job? Drop me a note, my addy has not changed, even if I move I doubt that it would.

what up KC doods, secretary Ford? niiice- remember to get him flowers and watch the books! ;) Things are good in SW Florida, course has dried out some and we've been clearing much jungle rough- miss the wide open KC parks though, lotsa throwin from behind walls here, up and over type stuff, even the beginner throwers have a tomahawk or UD throw in their bag... bagtag chellenges are $2 during league- low number on card doesn't pay- helping to keep funds flowing in a smaller club... sat/sun leagues now and glow on tues night (I oredered ten LED lights from Lindy direct and they seemed to cost more than cabelly's :confused:oh well) Nice new forum here, though the skierguy forums at tetongravity.com and powdermag.com seem easier to navigate... better load the fam and go play golf now, might rain later....

We've got lots of dg going on all the time! Even if it snows, the Water Works glow league happens every Thursday night around 6ish, and there's leagues at Olathe at 11am, and Rosedale Downunder at 12:30pm...both on Saturdays. Give some advance notice here and perhaps some weekday slackers can join you somewhere.
Overall, if you're just gonna drop by a course in KC, I'd recommend Rosedale. It's easiest to navigate, there's 2 entirely different courses at the same park...and it gets the most traffic...so you can jump in on someone's card for navigation purposes.
Go to KCFDC.org for course directions and a place to post your anticipated dates for some DG!

Par for down under is 54 (par 3 holes) for any organized event - league, etc. Check out the club website (http://www.kcfdc.org) for more about the area courses.

This happened last weekend to one of our Tulsa golfers.

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after they got done tailgating

there is bad news from the Tom T kc trip. when he was at waterworks for about 15-20 minutes someone vandalized his Girlfriends car bad. not cool playing 4 or 5 holes to coming around and see a F-ing cinder block in the your windshield.

and NO ONE saw a thing.

but besides that he said the KC chiefs tailgating was fun he said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not Waterworks, but one of the new courses. I can't remember which one. It will amount to at least $1000 worth of damage (windshield, hood, fender, passenger side door, and dashboard). The windshield is getting fixed tomorrow, but the rest might have to wait a little while. I guess I should have just stayed back in T-Town. Kansas City can kiss my #%%$& @%#.

How is that Olathe course?

I grew up in that neighborhood as a kid and played in the creek, ect,ect...but there wasn't a disc golf course back then. I can kind of guess what the holes could have been made from, but have always been curious if I should return to Olathe to shoot there.

circle_2
Nov 04 2004, 01:39 PM
I've been playing since '97...and it's been fun to watch the Olathe course evolve. It gets woolier and woolier each year. A lot of smaller trees >>> now medium, many many pines=velcro... We hope to integrate a pond into the mix as we are likely to lose a few holes and expand into other parts of the park. Due to its proximity to Lawrence (where I live), it's easily my most played KC course with Monday evening leagues during the Spring/Summer/Fall...and an 11am league on Saturdays during the 'Winter months. I like it! It's cetainly not a Water Works, but is still quite challenging...forcing me to throw over things/obstacles...instead of around.

Chiefs-Ravens - Sunday Dec 10 @ noon

While I can't recommend a good hotel I can recommend playing some quality DG courses! Water Works and Cliff Drive (no teepads yet) should be played...and if you have time Swope, Rosedale (uptop and DownUnder, though a bit further away and on the KS side) are fairly close.
Blue Valley (11k'+) will require a guide, IMO, and is very close to the sports complex.
These are the courses that make the most sense given your criteria... Hopefully, as the time approaches, we can coordinate a tee time with someone/me, etc... Hope this helps!

The Drury Inn's not bad at I-70 and Blue Ridge Cutoff. The Clarion at the same location as the Drury, and it's a little nicer hotel I think.

Swope Park is just a few minutes from the stadium.

Drury Hotels (http://www.druryhotels.com/) Great chain, I haven't stayed in that particular one though. They all have internet access free, almost all have a swimming pool, all have free breakfast (more than just donuts and juice) and they're clean.
Yeah, Swope is just a few exits south on I 435 from the Drury and the stadium. Blue Valley is off the first exit north, but you'll need at least 3 hours and a guide. I think a guide will be easy enough to find if you just ask...There's really only 1 course here, WYCO, that's not within 30 minutes of the stadium, and WYCO might be 35 minutes.

AFC WEST BABY!!!!

DEFENCE is looking better :D

It's not like we went out a got a big name wide receiver and still did'nt advance to the next round :o.

Let's see, in the playoff game, Green was 2-7 in the first half, with 5 dropped passes (Colts dropped one of the 5). Can't blame the loss on Trent. The offensive line was HORRID.

Trent's the guy next year. Then we get a big dose of Brody Croyle in 2008.

The kicker's not old, and he's not that bad....gotten steadily better over the past couple of years. Yeah, he missed that short one in Indy, but there was plenty of blame to go around in that game.

No big surprise...the only surprise to me is that they threw that much money at Huard. I guess they figure Croyle isn't ready yet, because Croyle's going to be the guy in 2008 for sure. Huard's the 2007 guy. At least at the start of the season.

I just played a round of golf at Castle Hayne Payne park in Wilmington NC(A.K.A. The Payne) with a couple of dude's named Deano and Chili. A couple of disc golfin, beer swillin dudes from KC. It was fun, they fit right in here in The North Cack. If you know them and see them tell them Fig said Whats up!

Another North Cack sighting...

I was in KC to visit my Dad this holiday season and got up with Tom Butler and Deano to play a snow round at Prairie Center in Olathe. I wanted to let them know how much I appreciate them coming out and showing me the course. We played last Saturday. Bob was out there early to shovel the tee pads, which I was also thankful for.

Cant wait to make it back out and look forward to hitting up a club event next time I'm out.

Peace for North Cack.

I believe I finished 6 over with 2 circle 5s and one circle 4 and multiple bogeys, but it was my first time playing in snow so glad I left room for improvement.

I'll be in flying in to Kansas City on the afternoon of Monday Aug 31st. If anyone is available to play a round of golf in the KC area at around 5 PM, lemme know.

Also, I'm flying out on Friday afternoon Sept 4th. If someone is off work and wanted to play somewhere Friday morning, I would be up for that too.
