I hate to complain about stuff if I don't follow it up by helping change it to what I considered "fixed", but......
How the heck do you ever find any info on this website? I am trying to find the 2003 PDGA points totals. How about even the Worlds Invites list? What is the proper strategy for even searching? I've meandered through what I think are all the links with no luck.
I will now search the message board messages for an old link, but it should be accessible via the front page. Somebody please point out the moronic-ness of my ways so I can find something next time.
Thanks for letting me vent.

I usually have the same problem. Hint #1: go "home" for world invites. Hint #2: go to 2004 points and look for a 2003 link.

Sorry Rhett, my "hint" on points is wrong. I don't know where they are. Hint#3: never take advice from me. :p

I tried to go to all the logical places first. :)
I found the invites by searching the discussion board messages and finding a link.

Rhett,
Earlier this month, Theo and I were trading e-mails about another topic and my similar complaint about not being able to find info on the PDGA website came up. Here is his comment on that:
Jeff,
Redesign of the "Information" section of the website, which is where you should be able to find anything, is bubbling up to the top of the priority list for pdga.com.

Cool. I just had to vent because I was looking for info that I had looked at before.
a good start would be to add a search engine /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

A better start would be to volunteer if you have the skills.

I have no complaints but there are several pages that if you don't know the address, you can't find them. (IE, TD payment page)

I've noticed that a lot of times new stuff will get a link on the front page, but when it is no longer on the front page it does not have a link in the logical place. So Rhett, where ARE the 2003 point totals?

Bruce,
A lot of the data on pdga.com was originally only kept for the current year. Over the last two years, we have been gradually expanding the databases so they maintain history as far back as we have data. The big change last fall was the new schedule/tournament database, which Jason Haas and I set up, that enables a rolling historical calendar linked to all past and future events. Now we can finally start adding 2005 events before the end of December!
The points system has been partially converted. We have the points data for 2003 archived online, but the points search functions and only use the current points and stats. If you want to see your own (or any current member's) points for 2003, all you have to do is look up the player, and then click on the "2003" link to go to 2003 stats (2004 is the default displayed, now that the first set of stats have been published). There is currently no way on pdga.com to view 2003 stats for multiple players. We have that data in spreadsheets, and can recreate it if necessary, but since the Worlds invites are done, there's no need to from our perspective. At some point (it's a low priority, though), we'll try to get the stats search features to include the ability to search stats for prior years.

Would be nice to have the historic money totals. Someone asked a few weeks ago about how much a player could win on tour, and the link had just been removed a few days earlier.

A lot of information can now be found:
Here (http://www.pdga.com/competition/ratings/index.php)
Its getting worse before it gets better.
I cant find sanctioning agreement and other TD information. I think it used to be linked from the Tour page, but not any more, and there's nothing resembling that from the info page.
Help!!!!
Cool!!!
Hopefully that info can be linked from the pages that the Tour and/or Info links on the index bar take you to as well.
One can use google to search within a site. Just add "site:pdga.com" to your query. It's quite useful sometimes.

Jim - Try the "2004 Tour Information" button in the front and centre gray box on the home page ...
Brian,
When you emigrate from CAN to USA, you're going to have to change your spelling ("centre" vs "center") :D
Also, since you'll be in GA, you may want to start practicing your "Y'all"s:
"Y'all think that's a good idea, eh?" :D
Is it possible to do a search for stuff on the 'old board'? Say, circa March 2001? I tried the "older than 3 years" bit, but nothing...

Is there a place to find out how many wins a player has won in the membership history of said player?

Vinnie,
For a specific player, just look at their Player Information page and click on each year in their profile.
For instance, this method shows that you won 1 event in 2001, 1 in 2002, 4 in 2003, and 3 in 2004.
Oh, and happy birthday.

Oops. I am probably guilty of thread drift here, but have you folks ever used the "Wayback Machine": http://www.waybackmachine.org/ ?
Type in your favorite website's URL and it will find archived copies from years ago. Fun is guaranteed.

Took me more than 1/2 hour to find the list of sponsors that gave $500 or more. We should treat our sponsors better and have that link on the front page.
