I'm just curious to find out how many people have thrown a Tsunami and how many of them have liked it.

I like it for long hyzers that aren't what I call 'utility hyzer's where I would throw a monster or firebird or spirit instead. Usually those are a 'get out of trouble' shot where you need huge break to get around a tree. The Tsunami came in the Southern Nationals Am Championship players pack and is a pretty sweet disc. I would say it is more overstable than an orc but less than a firebird. Slower than an orc, but faster than a firebird. My $.02.

I think that just about EVERYONE who has thrown a Tsunami ( except maybe the Innova Sponsored Guys ) has put on in thier bag. I have a blue Z Tsunami that i got a DGLO in my bag and a Orange one that i got from the Disc Store around here. This is by far my favorite disc of all time. My Driver setup in my bag is 174 Z Pred long Hyzers and spikes. 174 Z Tsunami for longer shots that need to hyzer at the end of the flight not the whole way. 174 Opaque DGA Plastic Tsunami ( slighty beat ) for straight shots and long turnover drives. 170 X Pred for rollers and flip shots. Im trying to get my hands on some light Tsunamis but i havent had any luck yet.
If anyone out there has anymore Blue Z Tsunamis from the DGLO Players packs i would be willing to trade or pay cash for them :D

The NorCal Series "Store" has quite a few "Blue Speckled" Tsunami's...Not from DGLO but from the same run :D
I really doubt that I will get my hands on anymore though after the AMs clean us out of inventory this weekend :D

I bought a couple of tsunami's during worlds and these things are seriously over stable. I like them for headwind drives...

I may be one of the few who hasn't added it to their bag! The rim is a little deep for me. But I will admit I remember watching my Wildcats have to work a lot harder than the Tsunami's in Iowa. Although I was playing with Slater, so....

I didn't like it either. Didn't like the plastic or the feel of it.

I think the disc is great. I've got 2 in my bag now. They will weed out my CE FX's unless it is a really windy day. I find the Tsunami is more predictable for me.

cbdiscpanderer, I don't own any tsunamis. There are plenty of them around here though, being DGA country.

also--do you guys find these to be more overstable than a z-talon?
cbdiscpimp
Oct 17 2004, 10:04 PM
Yes i think they are A LOT more overstable then the Z Talons.
There was one run of Z Tsunamis. They gave them in players packs at DGLO. Im hoping Discraft will start producing them in the Z Plastic and just run it under another name because i LOVE my Z Tsunami. Its a little more OVERSTABLE then the Fusion and it doesnt get beat up :D

just got off the phone with dga. the mold is theirs and discraft will not be running the tsunami in any of there plastic, much less z. dga will run the tsunami in fusion plastic only. period. the blue one with sparkles and a black stamp i got was a fluke. it is indeed z-plastic. it was part of a one and only run for the DGLO. a few were also sent to some retailers. pimp[or whoever] i would be willing to trade my 167. pm me

Well I just got my hands on one of the blue tsunamis. Someone was telling me these things were a mistake. Now that I got one I wonder if I should even throw it. What do you think?

I think you should trade it to me. I will put it to good use. :D

I posted earlier about my new red 170-172g'er with no 'braille' on the inner rim. Does this mean first run, or has DGA done away with this distracting phenomenon...? What plastic is this? Still have not thrown it...yet! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I just ran out and felt the inner rim of my 2 Tsunamis. The blue Z plastic one and the orange fusion plastic one and niether of them have the writing and come to think of it i havent felt any writing on the underside of ANY of the Tsunamis that i have held. Your red one is FUSION plastic for sure because the only color that wasnt fusion was the Z plastic BLUE ones.

What does this mean? Is the Tsunami not based on a Predator?
cbdiscpimp
Oct 20 2004, 04:21 PM
I have no idea what is going on. I know for a FACT that Discraft has the mold and makes EVERY single Tsunami thats on the market. It IS a PREDATOR with a little more glide. Oh well i have 4 of the Blue Zs and will trade or buy more if people want to let them go so i guess i dont need anymore and i will continue to throw the FUSION ones because they BREAK IN nicely. :D
Maybe we should ask Keith on the Discraft thread what the deal is???

the fellow i spoke with said the mold is a slight variation of the predator mold and that the discs from that mold [tsunamis] were exclusive to the dga, and would not be sold as a discraft disc. obviously discraft manufactures them for the dga. i assume sort of how dga sells a flat-top xl variation [superdrive or something?] and discraft will never [i assume] sell a z-superdrive. same as the riptide/wildcat i guess.

What is Fusion plastic comparable to? Is this the plastic that the first Squalls and Riptides were run in? What Discraft molds are those 2 based off of?

My Tsunami is similar to the Innova Pro-line, but probably even more durable. Been throwing it for a few weeks now and it still looks brand new, not a scratch or chip even though I play mostly in the woods. Think opaque candy plastic.

Rip tide is Wildcat like and the Squall is similar to a Storm.

Think Innova old CE plastic (has the feel but maybe a little less durable).

Hello,
We do make the Tsunami for the DGA. Right now we have no plans on running it in any of our Pro-D, Elite-X or Elite-Z materials. There is nothing stopping us from doing that besides letting the DGA run with it and see how they do.
The old models we used to run for them were the same molds (Superdrive XL = XL) just in Pro-D material. The new blend was come up with so the DGA would have some more durable discs that were not meant strictly for recreational players.

I have to of them in my bag now which have replaced my Monsters, which were my get out of ***** disc.

Hi Steven,
The Tsunami is a modified Predator mold so it wouldn't be as overstable and have a little more glide.

All three of my Tsunamis were wonderful overstable drivers right before I threw them in a lake. Three Tsunamis, three lakes. Strange that water would attract Tsunamis.
For me they were great for a forehand airshot, hard turning at the end backhand shot, and a backhand cut roller.
I love the Tsunami! I have 2 in the bag! Perfect for those windy days here in OKLAHOMA!
