.....and which one is better? I've found the Tee-Bird to be really good at controlling my annoying drop-off to the right (I throw left-handed) and I would like to try a DiscCraft or Gateway disc to see if they work better. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As for Gateway, the Sabre is pretty similar.

do a little research bro :0

never hurts - might learn something else along the way

Well, I will save you a lot of time and tell you that there is only 1 Teebird. You won't find a disc that will fly the same. There are some discs that are similar but all will take some adjustments. Try a Sabre, XL, Wildcat and Talon. They are all a little different but one of those should be close to what you want. The Z-Talon is very similar to a 11x Teebird in my opinion.

The Sabre or Blaze depending on how much power you have and how smooth your release is.

Are you saying ALL tbyrds fly the same.
If they are NOT how different are they from run to run or in the different types of plastic?
I have never thrown one more than a few times every once in awhile. The original CE seemed like a lot better feeling disc than the current champion or pro-line version. I know they are the best and most popular driver for top innova pros and hopefully one day we have something that sells as well.
The Sabre and Blaze are really close and in some situations and can be better, especially if you have a clean powerfull realease and youre really good throwing discs higher!!

Most beginner players would have more trouble controlling a tbyrd on deceleration than a sabre.

I agree that the Sabre is easier for beginners. I was only claiming that ANY other disc will take some adjustment if you are used to Teebirds.

Here is a crash course in Teebirds:

I like the CE TL. They fly really close to a DX Teebird (and obviously more durable). There were 4 runs of CE and they all fly fairly similar. The 2nds are a little more stable and the 4ths are a little less but nothing major. Also, 10x KC Teebirds were TLish.

The Champion Teebirds are not even the same kind of disc to me. I don't know how they vary from run to run because I didn't like the one I tried. They are a lot more overstable. They are good but not for me.

I think the E Blaze is very similar to the 11x Teebird.

I think the closest disc to the Teebird is the Talon. The Blaze and Sabre are similar, but they take a different kind of throw to get similar results.

If you like the Teebird, why not use the TEEBIRD?! It is the most unique of any Innova disc, and is one of the most unique discs ever created, in my opinion.

Ahhh... logic is often so simple and yet, so hard to come by.

THANK YOU! :D

I think that the Z-XL flies very similar to a CE TL. But that's just IMHO.

Oct 14 2004, 11:06 AM
Ok thanks guys. I will continue to try the Tee-Bird but since I find so many discs (I've found 43 in one year!) and I trade in the ones with no names, I can afford to try a random disc here or there with no monitary penalty.

Oct 14 2004, 11:55 AM
From this and your other thread I assume you are looking for something that will fly straight right to the ground. I could be wrong, but I don't know if there is a driver that will do this (mid ranges are a different story). Once the disc slows, it will naturally fade some unless it is already close to the ground. You just have to adjust your aim a little. Having said that, I also find that a cyclone is really close.

the few new champion tees i have do not seem as overstable as 11x. they are quite straight when thrown hard

I think it might have been discontinued. But the Z-X2 was a very similar disc to the Candy TeeBird.

A Z- XL has a similar stability to a DX teebird.

The rim is differnt, but the Tsunami has a similar flight to a "T" Teebird

dannyreeves

I thought the Tsunami was like a faster Predator.

they are.

I think the wildcat flies more like a TL for me.

The Tsunami is like a cross between Predator and a Teebird:
Slightly less stable than a Predator, more stable than a Teebird, and as fast as a predator, but not faster.

dannyreeves
Oct 14 2004, 08:54 PM
Is it like a stable Orc?

gokayaksteven

actually--we could refer to the tsunami as more "stable" than a z-pred.

Or...
To use terminology that we all can understand and agree on:
According to the Discraft stability ratings:

1.75 Orc
1.75 Teebird 11x
2.00 Talon
2.25 Tsunami
2.50 Predator

According to my opinion.

So, a Tsunami is like a Firebird. I always thought a Firebird was between a Talon and Predator.

IMO, when the 'more overstable' 11x T'Birds came out, I found them to be very similar to X-Preds (in stability). I've still not tried the Z-Pred.
A DX T'Bird is a thing of beauty...long, accurate, dependable...but like a rose, it begins to wilt...quickly. Then their uses expand even more into turnover discs, rollers, ashtrays, etc... :D

Yeah, but with more glide and much, much faster.

ive always thought my talon flew similar to my teebirds

I think Talons fly like a stable TeeBird. I carry CE TL's and Z Talons and they are very complimentary to each other,

Oct 15 2004, 03:12 PM
Depends which Teebird. I personally think the DX Teebird is the best driver ever made. I haven't found anything like it. The Champ Teebirds are a completely different disc. Way too stable to be called a Teebird. I'd say an X Pred is the closest thing stability wise to a Champ Teebird. The X Pred is faster though.

gokayaksteven
Oct 15 2004, 05:31 PM
in my experience, the z-talon was faster than a champ tee, with similar hi-speed stability but more low speed fade. i like the flight of the talon, but do not like the shallow rim
