I have seen pictures on someones avatar with a saddle bag for a dog which carries discs. Does anyone know of where or how to find one of these bags? My dog is starting to really enjoy being with me on the courses, so if I can make the situation better for us both, why not.

I got mine at REI. They range in price anywhere from $19.99 to about $79.99...depending on your dog's size and brand of bag.

My dog's a big 'ol lab/bloodhound mix (real tall and about 115 lbs, and the largest bag fits him with room to spare.

Keep in mind that most dogs can carry up to about 25% of their body weight, but work them up to it. My dog easily carries 5 disc in each side pocket, plus a bladder fo water for himself.

Good tip, Rooster.

Here's a link to all the dog packs REI currently has.

Click on the "Comparison Chart" link for the best information.

When I got one for my Lab, I also got a collapsible water bowl that works nicely.

Thanks Robbie and Jon, good suggestions. I also have a big lab, about 90 - 95 lbs, and already have the collapsable water and food bowls. I love Mountainsmith products, so it looks like my dog will be getting one for X-mas. Thanks guys.

Definitely a thread drift, but our five large dogs all drink very well from a sport drink style water bottle, ergo no reason to carry a bowl at all. They actually prefer it when we are out because they can buzz by, get a quick tongue wetting and be off again. Really, really easy to teach any dog when they are pups. Warm day, take a long walk, let them get thirsty, insert bottle nipple in their cheek, give a light squirt and they are trained. :)

There was a company a few years back that made a couple of interesting bags; one for humans and one for dogs. I can't remember the brand name, but the dog model looked very cool. The discs slid into slots so that all of them could be seen at one time, kind of like credit cards. The one for people was worn on the leg and you could see all the discs at one time also. Anyone else remember these? They must not have been very popular. I can only remember one guy who "wore" one (Sundance !!!). :D

I have saddle bags for my dog......they are made by outward hound.they are nice for camping so he can carry his own food and water....but as for holding discs it only holds maybe two on each side with nothing else in the pocket.my dog loves'm..as soon as I pull them out he goes crazy...

Oh, yeah. I hear you about the dog going crazy when I pull his bag out of the closet.

He knows we're about to go play. And because we're still in training mode, he knows there are treats to be had.

I don't even carry a bowl, as a turned over putter works well enough for a water bowl. Plus, most of the courses I play have several spots for him to get a drink (and a swim). Another tip: make sure your bag is zippered shut before you dog goes swimming wearing has pack.

...I completely forget what breed...he mentioned, and it was something exotic...not an everyday name. Possibly a Belgian-something.[?]

good advice.....their is nowhere for him to swim at most of our courses....but I will keep that in mind...I do carry a bowl cause Its bigger....its a outward fold up bowl......it fits in the back pocket of my revolution bag perfect.......If I use a putter I have to refill it 10 times ....

*heh*, is that a real guess, or Marge Simpson's maiden name?

...does't really ring a bell; I was buzy trying to converse, observe, and adjust my balky camera to get another shot, so I'm just left with an impression...that guess is-as-good as any! :D
