Thanks for the quick posting of the results Brian and Matt!
Congrats to the winners!
Once again, very few players' ballots decided the State Coordinator positions: 9.1%. Dismal, even for paid-membership organizations like the PDGA.
Will there be any plan to help boost future voting?

Well, hopefully having more contested seats would help. And, when the website's database is fully capable of identifying members via their passwords, etc., we will go online with voting. In my experience with associations that usually doubles or triples voting.
I also think that separating voting from renewals will help. Many people erroneously believe that you can't send your ballot in unless you also send in your renewal. That's not true, but I think it cuts down on votes because some people don't want to renew before the new year.
Now that the constitutional change to move the election earlier into the year has passed, our next election will be held all by itself and not tied to the annual renewal cycle. That's a little more work and a little more expense, but probably another good thing.

The UPA provides the online voting (& renewal) option and I like it better.
I'm outraged, however, how could Mr. Kernan only get 2 votes? He's the voice of the people!!! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I like how Keith voted for himself twice for state coordinator.
You'll know when I run for something because I'll have 4 votes for me. Sign up the whole family, ya cheapskate keith! :)

A write-in vote for Run Russell against McCoy. :D
It was probably McCoy himself, just to witness the 13-1 landslide victory. :D

i think being able to vote online would boost participation considerably, especially if you sent an email to all members who provide an email address with a link to the vote.
i'm sorry to say i didn't vote, but i really didn't want to vote for myself! so i'd have to agree, having more contested seats would make for more voting. how about making being the state coordinator a desired position? maybe some benefits, like pdga business cards, passes to the usdgc,PDGA jacket or collared shirt, etc. i'm sure there are a lot of low cost ideas that could be used to reward people who put in so much extra effort. because we know being state rep is probably the least of most of their involvement with disc golf in most cases....

I think to have an on-line voting option it would have to be in a voting window that preceeds the mailing of paper ballots. Otherwise you could vote twice. Or in my case, I could vote 16 times instead of only eight times. It could work. It would require a Constitutional change.
The nice thing about State Coordinator being a thankless volunteer job with some responsibility and not much pay backs is that it helps us to identify the schmucks who might also volunteer to be on the board. As the election demonstrated, no one WANTS to be on the board. Some people are just less able to say "No" at an opportune moment. Besides, if you can't figure out how to get some pay backs out of that USDGC invite, you aren't going to open the package if we send you a jacket.

Check with the UPA to see how they do it. You can vote online and get your paper ballot (in the Ultimate News -- DGWN-type mag), but they do check your ID number on the paper ballot versus their online results so you don't vote twice.

Hehehe. That was just me, klemrock. The others not only didn't pay but I had to talk them into it. Had a photo opp and then thought, why not. I had just decided, after several months of really not being sure if I could handle it another couple of years, to run again. And decided that if I really had made that decision, I'd better back it up. And then there was no competition and I could have saved that money. :o
