The January issue of this magazine, read by many parks supervisors and managers, featured a nice article on disc golf. By joining the NPRA (cheap, by the way) I was able to get permission to use the article for "educational purposes," which I figure includes getting it into the hands of people who want to use it to persuade local folks about putting courses in.

So here is a link to a PDF of it that you can download: you can download the PDF here: http://www.scup.org/terry/npra-dg.pdf

Enjoy! Be sure to attribute it to the magazine. Use this phrase when appropriate: "Reproduced with permission from Parks & Recreation" magazine."

Note that some people have had trouble opening this PDF, including me. You may need to update your Acrobat Reader software to get it open.

Thank you Terry! I first heard of this article from a parks director here in Greater Cincinnati. He e-mails people info on disc sports from time to time, and included excerpts from the article in his most recent. This is a very valuable resource for anyone trying to get baskets in the ground.

took me almost 20 minutes on my dial up to get it...

but it was well worth the wait, what a great article, hopefully we will see some positive results from it and it will persuade some on the fence parks department people into investing in a disc golf course for their area, this is just the type of support we need to bring disc golf to the level we all want it to be! :D

Fabulous article!

I sent the pdf to my local parks contact and she mentioned that they receive the magazine and had already read it. Sounds like its the exact exposure we'd want.

Great work!

Wow! That was a fantastic article. I hope to see more of that type of publicity in the future. Less of the type in the Feb 18 issue of the Arlington newspaper about Disc Golfers getting busted with drugs in the park. :o

McCoy: I lucked into this one.
I was recommended by a friend on the U of A faculty.
I have a Masters Degree in Recreation Management, and have completed 46 hours toward a Doctorate in Leisure Sciences. I'm also a former Singles and Doubles Amateur World Champion :D
The classes don't start until March, but there are more than 20 students enrolled.
I'm not sure if there are any pretty co-eds, but you are more than welcome to come on over and demonstrate your legendary skills to either of my classes.
See you soon... :)
