Around a year ago I integrated a chat client into the message board, with the idea that some discussions could be better handled there. It's time to renew the license, but before we make that decision I wanted to find out if anyone actually uses the chat room. I'm not on the message board very much, so I don't really know.

At first it was used quite a bit, You very rarely see anybody signed in anymore. If we need to chat, there are other (free) ways available.

I've used it but once...I could pinpoint the day; it was when Chris Heeren got sponsored by Innova, and I by chance got to congratulate him there. I wouldn't miss it. But never lose the PM function! I use that several times weekly, usually in spates of activity. 276 messages in my inbox, presently.

I don't get to use it very often, but the chat room is a great feature and it should stay. Most of the time when I use the chat room I have private conversations with other users rather than with the whole group. Group chat can be interesting and fun when there are more than three or four users. :p

I would suggest message board readers who are PMing or using threads to communicate back and forth, go to the chat room and have real time private conversations. It would help work out details of trades and such much faster...except users would not get to raise their post counts.

I've tried to use the chatroom but all I get is a blank blue box.

I love the chatroom!!

Just last night there were about 10 people in it and it was great.

It its not used as much as it was when it was first put in, but I think it is def. worth keeping around

Conrad, I used it a lot with the rest of the stalkers and perverts when it was first available. Then we got a new version of Windows NT at work and I can't access it anymore. I still see a few users in there from time to time but it generally looks pretty dead now.

Stockers keep the shelves full at grocery stores... stalkers are what you fear in chat rooms. :D

My daughter uses it all the time.

For those of you who can't access it, or used to be able to but now can't, you are probably trying to get on it from work and your company has blocked the ports required to use it. The chat room here seems to use the same ports as Microsoft Messenger and AIM. My company blocked those ports about a year ago (right when a nice article about how IM can improve productivity appeared in a big IT rag) and MSM and AIM quit working, and I can't access the chat room from work either. Can get it fine from home.

I can log into the chat room from home but don't like spending much time on it. 8 hours a day is enough.

Rhett, agreed. "The man" is denying me access from work. :(
