I honestly think homan should just let Ray run it. he did a good job last week running it and we don't have to worry about him not showing up because he had to work

I may have to go offline as virus , which somehow bypassed my firewall and VPN code , contaminated my software platforms , erasing my medical files and job resume.

This is serious guy.

It wasn't until the final [18th] hole until the rain came, and but briefly.

Very nice little course! Lots of elevation changes! Ray does a fine job of having the tees [sets of orange or blue rocks] set where only 20-30 feet makes a big difference. They also have two positions per hole to change things up a bit. Today, 5/7 were played interchangably, there might be other combinations.

Not as nice as Bayside, just ask Donny...Oh wait, he's been infected

Bayside is a very nice temp. course in San Diego.
I found a computer to use at SDDPC SYSID terminal.

It is located off Ingram street. Across the street from Ski Beach. Go over the first bridge and turn into the Paradise Point Resort exit. Take an Immediate left just before the entrance. Drive down the parking area , make a right turn into secondary parking lot. You should see some guys there practicing next to the toy boat pond.

I believe I'd choose it over Morely, even if crowding weren't a concern. The alt. tees make it seem just like 18. ;) I understand the Bolf course there is rentable, likely the DG course, too. [thinking aloud]: Would it be suitable for PDGA play? 45 singles, or 27 doubles teams [right?], w/o the stagger, or 'ghosting'.

Bayside is Beautiful. Excellent location , nice cool breeze on those hot days , manicured grass , restroom facilities and plenty of parking.

It is one of San Diego's best kept places to play !!!!!

I HIGHLY Recommend playing Bayside on Tuesday Evenings !!!!

Y'all in Diego don't get the pubic parks overrun on Holidays, as in the Basin, because your courses are all private. Those days are a big 'yea' for pay-to-play. My gorsch; I may even think about going to HB. Wish I could be in Sun Valley, however. :)

I don't see a problem with but two divisions. It's a serious competition, and not an ego-coddling...right right? By all means, try and accomodate all five courses on their 'regular day', to maximize participation.

Would there be any advantage in spreading it over a month? To hold the event concurrent with the courses' Monthlies perhaps? Most of those are on Weekends, correct?

Morley does 3rd Saturday unless there is a tournament somewhere near, or a big one somewhere far. But only half the possible divisions get to play each month. Last weekend was supposed to be the Wrightwood tournament so Morley played 2nd Saturday.

I thought Sun Valley was always opposite the Morley Monthly, but I guess that's not even close. It's opposite the Morley Monthly every other month, when Morley disallows pro and advanced from playing.

That sure is the idea but a tournament can spring up in San Diego with a few phone calls and a few confirmations.

With more than 8 SoCal courses, one can't avoid some doubling, but with only 3 2/2>>>4 courses in El Diego, on average, typically, each Month, throughout the year...well...you can see where I'm going. ;) :cool:<font color="red"> </font>

Micah tied the course record for doubles again. And Ray banged a 35 foot putt to win the playoff on hole 7 long

What might work in San Diego for the Monthlies would be to do the following

2nd Saturday: Sun Valley (every month, I am sure the Open and Advanced players would be there every month!)
3rd Saturday: Morley (every other month depending on division)

No conflicts, no questions as far as SD goes. This would give us 2 monthlies in SD per month. If there is a PDGA event, then the monthly may be light or not played at all that month.

This would also leave the 1st Saturday and 4th Saturday open to go to LA to play Huntington or Eldo! Both of which are fun monthlies.

I finally played Sun Valley on Saturday. That was a fun course! I wasn't holding out much hope as we pulled in the parking lot and it looked like one of those North Park backyards with a little canyon in it. Man that place looks small! But once we tee'd off on hole 1 and started walking the path it was like going down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland, the whole course just kind of opened up in front of us.

As a ball golf course, that place is super-dink city. But most of the baskets are past the greens, so the disc golf holes really weren't too short. (Except for 8.) We played one round singles, where I shot even, and then one round of Wolf. Wolf really isn't a good game when only one person in the group can reach all the holes. I ended up with 9 skins after 9 holes. :eek: (When we played Wolf on Sunday at Emerald and Ryan joined us, we all played from the long tees but Ryan and I could only throw Rocs and Aviars. Worked pretty well since we came in last and second to last that time.)

Anyway, I really liked that course. My favorite hole was rolling hole 4. Put it down between the hill and right of the bunker and watch it flip and climb the ridge to the basket. Sweeeeet.

Least favorite thing: finding the tee on hole 2, and the fact that there were two tees for each hole listed on the scorecard but only 1 tee on most holes. Not a big deal, though.

Final rating: double-thumbs-up

Hey Rhett thanks for the rating of Sun Valley. On Monday Ray throws together doubles. He sets up the course and tries to find all the rocks. There are mutiple tee pads and hopefully a new position in the works for hole 5. If we play alternate baskets the second round hole seven is going to be almost undeucable. :) :)
And we are trying to make an 8 long tee pad and keep it safe.

� Is #8 the one where a Bolf green doesn't come into play, yet there is an OB Crick? Widen the hazard. :)

I can't find my SV map but it was a lefty sidearm pin-shot, so it had to be a shortish R>>L hole; I didn't see any green, just a water OB. If there's one 'too easy' tee that's a trifle. ;)

8 is super short but it still has some danger. If your turnover comes out of it, you're on the green. If you catch the right edge on the hill, you roll on out.

It's really short, but since it's such a lefty hole it's okay. :)

I found the map; it's a collection of 9 "real time" orientations; not a bird's-eye-view one. So I don't know N/S E/W. But I think I'm describing #8 Pin B, which SAYS it is 207 Blue, 117 [!!] Orange.

I think everybody else might be decribing Pin A. I now see one Green, one Bunker. 189', 252'.

...of course, since those Rocks aren't gathered-down with Moss, the distances might vary slightly...

Last time we had a tournament there, no one let Mike know until the night before. I'm just wondering who is going to be in charge, and if Mike is even aware that we are having a tournament tomorrow, he doesn't always keep himself in the loop. So my question stands, has anyone spoken with Mike or Ray to see who is in charge tomorrow? I don't want another repeat of everyone showing up and no one having a clue what is going on.
And I don't like starting 45 minutes late at tournaments, and having the TD leave after he gets things started because he forgot, wasn't informed, or couldn't complete his duties as TD for whatever reason, or worse, not showing up at all. I'm not knocking anyone at all, I'm just trying to help out by adding some foresight.

I like things run "smoothly" is all. And I don't want to wake up and get out there if the kinks aren't at least somewhat worked out.

I think with a tournament like a monthly, it is pretty easy to do on-the-fly. Although, it would be a good idea to inform Homan or Ray so we have our ducks in a row. Anyone know Homan or Ray's number?

This is the only way that SV makes any money off the tournament. If they gave out cash to the Ams, they would be losing profit.

Here is a list of a few the things I can think of that need to be taken care of.

Teepad rocks need to be checked and or fixed to eliminate confusion
TD Needs to explicitly explain to players which rocks to use on which rounds.
Sign in material needs to be situated.
Score cards need to be setup
Names need to be drawn
Player Meeting time needs to be established and well vocalized
Money needs to be dealt with
Someone needs to deal with SV Pro shop in regards to $$
Basket order for holes 5 and 7 needs to be explained

These are just a few things I can think of that need to be dealt with BEFORE 8:30 tomorrow. Especially the teepad rocks, as that is always an issue/frustration for the groups I am in.

That's the way it was, for June.

With this change, the plus is: No monthly conflict w/Morley. Minus, going 'against' LaMa instead of the much-farther-away Sylmar....I think that's the shrunken side of the coin. ;)

Let's see what you can get done when life throws you a little responsiblity. Besides 5 years of prayer, a permanent course, and the options to do what we want with the tee pads seems to make it a pretty good event.

i lost my kc pro roc at sun valley today and was wondering if you find it please turn it in to the pro shop.

Was it orange or blue? I saw a few tees that were missing Rocs. Put your name on your discs and you might get them back...A phone # only doesn't cut it. Although, if I found it, I would have turned it in...Who likes Rocs anyway?...Sheesh.

Garrett, Dont mind Dave, he is the local ******* that nobody likes. He is always bitter. If I find it I will turn it to the shop as always.

the reason only my number is on there is becasue the pro shop where i bought it only had a fat tip marker and i think it looks tacky but i couldnt leave it with nothing on there so i wrote just my number and was planning on writing my name with a better marker.

so next monday I want to run a singles event instead of doubles. I dont want to hear any ******** and moaning, we have played doulbles all year and its time for something different. spread the word, same time as always start time 5:00pm sharp. There will be no handicaps only am and open
, so all of you guys that play open at morley will not be alowed to play am you gotta step up and play open. also cash will payed out to both divisions. please spread the word lets get ans many people as we can out there before the summer season ends thanks. same price as always too 7$

Hope your feeling better. If you can't make , either Sun Valley on Monday or Bayside on Tuesday , I'll hang on to your disc's till I see you. No Problem.

I just don't want to leave them at the shop. Last time I did that for Daniel , they still charged him a buck a piece.

I think open should pay $10 that way the ams don't end up winning more than the open. :eek: :eek:
