Jesper Lundmark has won every event this year.

European Championship is next weekend.

What are your predictions for top 4?

I'll go with

Jesper Lundmark
Mikko Laakso
Markus Kallstrom
Tommi Vesala

And while I'm on it, why isn't this a MAJOR?

Yep, those events are open to everyone. Some of them you have to qualify for, but can still get an invite or qualify if you are international

hey matt do you know who the USDGC qualifiers were from the Euro Champs?

Jul 21 2005, 05:02 AM
Since Markus K., Jesper L. and Thomas W. already got their spots (in Oslo Open), I would assume the qualified players are:

Timo Pursio
Mattias Nilsson
Markus Lindewald
Tommi Vesala
Anders Kllstrm

Don't underestimate Mike B ( who's birthday a couple of days ago) as part of the European Championships venue(s). Mike B. has been here a number of times in NL and although he will not be on the roster due to residence retrictions, he will no doubt be, with his SOG playing and improved putting and approaching ( perhaps at this Sudnay's Ace-Race in Rotterdam)in the months before the EC2008 in Germany contribute towards the NL performances there. Go Mike B, hope to see you soon either 3 nov in NIeuwegein,or perhaps our 22 nov 'Putting Winnaars' 10th year putting inIJsselstein's Europkwartier) or perhaps first Saturday in Dec will be after the new PDGA Country Coordinator takes over for the temporary CC (17 nov- LIFELINE for election in NL, then one big family and on the way to the WInter Olympics in 2014 ( who know's maybe the 2010 will knock on our door towards the 20 years + PDGA'er in NL are playing in the winter and of course, the Ice Bowl has the honor of introducing a new topic, I hope.

I would have picked Marco Lehousse from Belgium as a contender but apparently he is not traveling this year.

Wow, Espen Mkkelgjerd drops an 8-shot lead going into the Final 9 shooting +4 and finishes third, with third place Ville Piippo smoking a -7 in the Final 9 to pass Michael Stelzer to win by one. That has to be one of the biggest scoring swings in any Championship event ever.

Yea, I don't know that I've ever seen anything like that. He had an 8-stroke lead with 9 holes to play! But he bogeyed three of the first four par 3 holes, then took a 5 on a pro par four hole, (which the others birdie 3'd) then a double bogey 5 on a par 3 hole to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Looks like Billy had a 9-stroke lead (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/tournament_results.php?TournID=4968&year=2008&incl ude_ratings=1#Masters) going into the last round, but he lost that lead over 18 holes, not just nine holes.
