I have 25 Candy Wraiths for sale. $16 each. They are CFRs for the 2006 Worlds with the big star stamp. $5 of each sale goes to the EIEIO 2k6 general fund, so you can support two great tourneys at once while getting the latest and greatest super-driver from Innova. :)

PM me in interested reserve your disc. I should be at Emerald on Sunday at noon, where you can pick them up.

That's good news for the EIEIO tourney. :)

That disc has a tiny bubble in the rim. It's also the darker "manly pink" color. A lot more red in it that the hot pink with rainbow stamp one I have in my bag. :D

I'm working on another fundraising/great_disc opportunity. Should have some news soon.

I now have 10 (of only 200 made) CryZtal Avengers for sale. They don't have weights on them so I'll weigh them later today. They have the red stamp of the Plantation course that will host The Players Cup tourney later this year.

All proceeds go towards EIEIO and The Players Cup. PM me if you want one of these rare discs. $30 each.

Not that I can afford one [not that they're not worth it], but did you weight the discs, yet? Jimmy the Innova moulder says light weights [6+ grams below max] are tough to 'make' in clear discs.

p.s. Any grief from Innova Diehards about this? :( :D

They are all right about 170g, with 1 that is 164g. That 164 might be mine. :) Well, if my buddy Scot wants it I'll have to settle for one of the 170s.

They are dead clear with a big red hotstamp. No real grief yet, except from Keith Johnson. :) Thanks go to Keith Murray for the chance to raise funds for EIEIO with these discs.

7 left. I'll have them at the Casitas campground this weekend. Let your Discraft throwin' buddies know that they can get one of these and help a SoCal tourney in one fell swoop. :)

How much to EIEIO and How much to the Players Cup ?

The deal is just like the one for the Pro Worlds Wraiths, but the prices were different. $ 30.00 ?

Is there documentation for each fundraiser disc ?

Do you want one Donny?

I'm just trying to raise some money for the EIEIO tournament and thought I would give the Discraft throwers around here a chance at the stuff they like. I only got 10 discs as a test market thing, plus that was the max that Keith M would sell me since it was such a limited run. $30 is the price that Discraft says to sell them at. EIEIO gets to keep more than it did with the Wraiths, but these cost more so that seems right.

"No" to all your other questions.

It's not a big deal, Donny. Go ahead and call Tim if you'd like.

Talked about this idea with Skip last Sunday. It sounds like a fun fundraiser idea to me (everybody buy in for a set amount of chips and play for trophies or other prizes... all the chip buy in money goes to tourney budget... if we have enough time we could even allow re-buys during the first hour or two to raise more money).

Has Skip set the 7th as the date? We should post the info so people know when-where-how, etc.

Another EI issue to make people aware of: we need a bunch of people to help install the new baskets.

Click that link and mail it in! Max will be about 85 players. (I won't be mixing long and short pad divisions this year, so I won't necessarily get to 90 players.)

About 10 spots are already accounted for with entries on their way to me, and that doesn't even include DVINCENT! This year should be better than ever.

But.....it is still a C-tier. :) It will be fun and a good value for all entrants.

The event website will be updated soon, and once that happens this week it will be easier to keep it updated.

Innova discatchers are not downgrades compared to Dr. Fred's...Innova Discatchers have LESS blow throughs than Dr. Freds...Innova Discatcher's have nubs, Dr. Fred's have ridiculous roll-aways. We also bought special weather-stripping, not masking tape to protect from gouges. All in all, I would categorize EI as an upgraded course with a tough new layout...and 8 long has been de-virginized.

EIEIO has had an historically low, percentage of field wise, pro turnout. Considering that fact and the available schedule options, I chose the same weekend as the norCal St. Pats pro weekend. NorCal has such a killer tournament scene going on that you can't really not conflict with any of their events, so I thought this would be the least impact way to go.

So unless you play pro, there isn't a conflict.

Plus the whole "Emerald isle/St. Pattys Day" thing goes together really well.

EDIT: ElDo is scheduled up against the St. Pat's Am Weekend, but ElDo isn't on the PDGA schedule right now.

Maybe he meant he couldn't afford to do both?

The new Discatchers and Titans are the best on the market IMO. They won't spit and the Titan has three sets of chains with the two inner being 75% heavier than regular so you CAN'T bounce off the pole. If you are a hard putter these are the only baskets that you can have confidence in. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

About 85. It depends on the divisional makeup. I will not be mixing long pad players with short pad players. It is possible that I'll take 90, but it depends on how the entries come in.

I posted the wait-list and preliminary hole assignments on the EIEIO website. The waitlist is around 16 people long.

http://www.eieio.rhett.net/

As for the tee-times, they will change. I was just trying to lay out the divisional placements. Open Pro Men start on hole 1, my wife starts on hole 18 so she get back to tourney central and help me. All others get thrown around willy-nilly. Well, the FPMs and FPGs start on the farthest hole because every one of them got a cart. :)

After I print out the leaderboard cards next week I will throw them down the stairs to shuffel the order and then assign the holes for real. The divisions shouldn't change what holes they are on unless I get a lot of drops that are replaced by different divisions.

Be sure to check again next week and then FER SURE take another look when you check-in on Saturday morning.

I'll have to think about that. If the payout goes 4 deep, I'll take all 4 cashers to the final. If it's only 3 deep, I have to think about it. Seems like all final players should cash...

For MA1 I'll take top 4. Hopefully it's really close between 3rd and 4th so that the final will be a battle of who gets a trophy and who doesn't.

rhett
Mar 09 2006, 03:32 PM
No 2 meter rule is correct. If the PDGA wants to ruin disc golf, who am I to stop them. :D

Stakes will define the OB line, not the water's edge. I hate the water's edge unless it's someplace like the Fountain where the line is well defined. Nooks and crannies and little puddles next to the edge complicate the call.

If the rain this weekend raises the lake level on hole three past the stake line like last year, then like last year the one edge of that one lake will again be water's edge. But if the water doesn't pass the stakes, it will be stake line like all the other lakes.

The bush beside basket 5 will be OB.

The trees on the right and the bush on the left by the lake on 17 will also be OB. If you hit the treeline you have to punch through to be fair.

They will be painted on the 17th.

A couple of suggestions then. Make sure lines are PAINTED between stakes, since the line of OB is now out. Also, paint a line around the bush on five, since its a bush, the line is not well-defined. BTW I will paint all lines if you let me help. Also, I will have my boys seed the clouds with silver iodide, so the lakes will all be full for the tourney.

Yes, good call Dave. If this is possible it would be very advantageous. I think the rain we will be getting this weekend should be enough to fil the lakes. Want all those hacks in the adv. division to lose their favourite drivers till after the tourney :).

rhett
Mar 09 2006, 04:44 PM
The plan is to paint those bushes on 5 and 17 and to only connect the stakes where it is difficult to do a line of sight check.

I've already been hearing complaints about those plastic fence thingies on hole 3. Enough people are whining already that I'm all for leaving them in! :) The way I figure it, it the fence keeps you from going OB if you nail the basket and bounce on your drive, then it worth the expense of people who don't quite clear the fence hitting it and rolling OB.

Of course they are subject to change, so please be sure to check on Saturday morning. I'm not super happy with the way it tunred out, but I have a bunch of 2-person divisions and almost all 5-somes, so there is a bit of ugliness to it.

I'm tired of guys like you trying to look like they have shoulders, so when the shoulder pad in your shirt drops out when you throw, you will be assessed a one throw penalty and be required to throw your next shot from the Drop Zone. :)

Looks like a wait-lister will be added, as I have to drop out. I spent last week at Scripps Green Hospital with a perforated intestine (and it wasn't very good company). :(

It will be interesting to listen to some of the scorekeeping conversations on Saturday, as there are several cards that have multiple players with the same first name on them:

Hole 12: 3 Davids
Hole 4: 2 Johns
Hole 8: 2 Ryans
Hole 10: Richard and Rich
Hole 15: 2 Mikes
Hole 16: 2 more Mikes

MA2 could almost have an all-David card, and MA3 an all-Mike card!

I have too much time on my hands...

There are a number of holes on this course where most players should consider laying up in front of OB (lakes, greens, and bunkers) with a mid range (or putter) rather than risking OB with their driver.

It sounds like the smart decision on #3 if you can't clear the lake (and #4 if you can't clear green, and #5, and #6, and #8m and #10... I think I see a pattern developing here).

Last year during warm ups, I saw a guy throw seven or eight shots in a row into that lake... I wonder what he decided to do during the tournament round?

Play smart Kat, I bet you knock two or three strokes off your average score on this course.

Mar 16 2006, 08:03 PM
Well, thanks for the heads up. That pretty much is the only hole that is my #1 enemy as far as whether to lay up or go for it. Of cousre the 2 girls I'm competing against will throw across and make it. That means I'm jealous! Actually I've only tried throwing across it once and laded about 5 feet from the other side in the water. Someday, I'll grow up and be a big girl. . . Either way, I'm happy to play the course!

hmmm.... with a light wraith, you may have 5 more feet on your drive compared to last year.

Lay up to the drop zone. Best case scenario is you make three... worst case scenario is four. (if you try to clear lake, best case scenario is three but worst case is five or higher).

See ya Saturday.

All the pros are playing from all longs.

I was thinking of the Int men and the Pro ladies when I came up with the "concede the water" rule. I think it is a good option to consider, especially on #3.

If you are within 5 feet of clearing the lake on three, personally I would carry a DX disc that I liked and try to clear it. Maybe you make it maybe you go to the drop zone. (Don't throw a Star CE Valk!) It's pretty easy to lay up from the drop zone and get your 4.

If you can't come close to clearing the water, then maybe lay up or maybe concede the water. You have options. :) It stinks to lay up and then put one in the lake when you could've just gone to the DZ.

I'm not trying to make you feel like a jerk, actually it was meant in the opposite. I was showing you a way to get a 3 on that hole, or a 4 at worst. If you do it that way, the girls who are trying to clear the lake will probably make a mistake one of the rounds. Remember it's gonna be raining.

I'm not butt hurt or anything. I'm sure I can clear the lake but with rain and I've had a low back injury for some time which makes me not throw so hard (just another excuse). I'll see what cheapo discs I can pull out of my bag for that hole. Thanks for all the advice! The worst part about it the other 2 open girls and 1 masters woman will clear it, but not me and possible another masters woman. :p

Kathy-

It is 330 to clear the lake from the long tee. I don't think I will be going for it as to get 330 I need ideal conditions. It is possible to go around the right side of the lake and still putt for a three. That may not be as safe as taking a drop on the other side of the lake, but at least you still have a chance at a three.

In the second round, the basket will be to the left, so I will probably take the drop in that position.

rhett
Mar 17 2006, 01:08 PM
Cart paths are not OB. There will be a sheet detailing each hole's OB with each card. At the player's meeting I will recommend that whoever has the cards read the blurb for each hole before anyone tees off.

On three with the basket to the left you can throw around to the left and then cross the bridge. While these are opportunities to get a three on three, there is still a fantastic chance you will go OB on the second shot and then you are gong to get a five at best. I strongly recommend that anyone who does think they have a reasonable chance to clear the lake on hole 3 just go to the drop zone laying two, get up and down in two and take your 4.

If you think you might get across but might not, use a newer DX disc that you trust and go for it. Using an old trasher disc will probably put in the lake faster than aiming for the middle. :)

The key to this course is managing your OBs. Everybody will get some, so play smart and try to minimize the damamge. You know, play golf. :D

Are we gonna play stroke plus distance on every OB? (ie: if you land in any lake, bunker, green, or cross a stake line you re-throw from previous lie and incur a penalty stroke. Seems this would add a *lot* of time to the rounds on this particular course since so many of the OB lies can be blind from previous spot).

If this has been covered already, just point me to where I've missed it... if you want to cover it with everybody tomorrow then just tell me to shut up and I'll wait.

Hello Suzette,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to rummage through some plastic tonight to see I can get something. I wish my lower back wasn't hurt or I could throw harder and have a better change of making it across the lake. I know MIchelle and I are laying up on that hole because conditions have to be perfect to get something across that is legal. I can't wait to watch you crush that hole and throw across the lake!

Darn skippy we're laying up to the DZ. Last year I made 3 attempts and did make it across the lake but still OB on the very edge of the darn thang. So Plan B: Throw putter to DZ; park it w/my cobra; don't bang head on basket while picking it up. :D:D:D:D

It looks like it was a great event, I am glad the rain held off.I was in mammoth with 2 ft of powder both days :).Lots of new faces Dave and Sam for thier first fly experience....A long time comming.Congrats to Philly and the pro that plays ams.Richard you are no am ,you do not win on this course with luck.I looked to find out who you you are I see you at Lama all the time.Last year you turned down $132 at goldenstate pro and got an invite to usdgc where you went and shot a 999 rated round with a 68.Now you win eieio pro and decline $250 that is $382 in 2 events. And all to go to AM worlds. You have 4 pro rounds over a 1000 rating.1,007,1,013,1,018,and 1,025 and lots in the high 900s.It is obvious you have the money to play and travel in the pro division with a 961 rating.Lots of ams would love to have the game you have, do the right thing and move up.I am sure there are more of you out there.Stop playing tennis with your little sister :eek:Nice ace Micha on 3.I hope the pdga looks into this problem soon. The pro division needs more blood...... ;)

Scot,

If you guys could cut and pull any pink string you see while you're playing I would appreciate it. :)

Thanks.
