Two different crews of loggers have come and gone since August to get the big trees. Now it's time for us to clear the smaller stuff (mostly under 6") and finally throw some discs. Matt Gillis and I have been clearing holes on the North course since Tuesday and we now have a 10-hole loop that can be thrown. Of course, no baskets have been delivered yet and there's lots of downed brush and trees partially blocking some routes, so it's tough walking. The local club has volunteers coming out to help clear brush this weekend, plus more chainsaw clearing will continue for two more days. I hope to have at least a 13-hole loop cleared by the time I leave Sunday evening, maybe more.
We've seen deer, spiders, beetles and a flying squirrel during our efforts. In addition, we were greeted by some ground hornets upset with our presence. That was the fastest I've moved in a while, covering 200 yards uphill to the car. I was only stung twice and I know they were chasing me in my red shirt and orange hard hat. I could hear them buzzing along the way and several were circling the car. All I can figure is they were laughing so hard watching me run that they couldn't bring themselves to sting me. :D
