<font color="red">Here's your chance to help. What subjects do you want the survey to cover? What's important to you in disc golf and at tournaments? What would make it it a better experience for you as a woman? Please women only. Let's limit this post to JUST survey ideas, specifically the questions to ask, not complaints you may have. This will make it easier for the person putting the survey together to organize the ideas. Don't be offended if your question doesn't make the final flyer, just remember you did help with it and are helping other women have a more favorable disc golf and/or tournament experience. Thanks!

*Are you more likely to attend a women's only event or a mixed gender event?

*If you have never played in a disc golf tournament, what is the main factor keeping you from doing so?

*If you do attend tournaments, what keeps your interest in competition?

*How many women play disc golf (competitively or casually) in your area?

*Does your area offer a Women's League and if so how many attend on a regular basis?

*How many events do you attend a year? (Sanctioned and/or non sanctioned.)

*Of all the events you have attended, which ones had the largest women's fields? What do you think made the attendance so high?

Good stuff Addie! I'd be in favor of you putting together the whole survey as we get any other ideas. Then I believe the plan is to have Lorrie send it out and anyone with any other non-PDGA women's emails could forward it on too. Now stay away from the spiders this year! :) Kathy

I will!!... except when I putt!! ;)

...back to topic...

It seems that every NEW woman I meet wanting to play says that it's hard to play along with their husband/boyfriend and they just seem to phase out of it. Case in point, I met a girl tonight that is VERY eager to learn but gets frustrated learning from her boyfriend. She said she ended up wanting to quit....so it's really the guys fault! lol :D(hahaha guys! you can't post!! :p ) Just kidding of course! I know many guys who have taught me a lot about my game.

*How did you become involved in the sport? Who were your "teachers"?

I think these questions will get some great answers as to who/what got them interested enough to want to play. Then you can go from there as to target areas to promote women.

*Other than disc golf, what are your other interests/hobbies?

This could trigger sponsorship ideas and or items for women's player's packs. ...AHHHH women's players' packs for all divisions...that'd be sweet. I gave mini Sharpies, Charmin travel size toilet paper and stickers at our events to all the women. They all really enjoyed them! (Not that people's hobbies were using the bathroom but we ALL know that bathrooms aren't ALWAYS provided at courses. This should be a requirement.)

Darn right! He never listens to my putting advice. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Actually, I did learn a lot from my husband and his friend Dave in the beginning. I read some articles in DGWN and Disc Golf Journal about driving techniques and sort of taught myself. I've found plenty of other guys who were/are VERY willing to give pointers.

I think that if women have any sort of background in organized sports, they are easier to teach/coach. I've never had any problem learning from men. I know that my experience is not the experience of others. Many women don't learn too well from a sig. other or doubles partner. A woman willing to teach dg techniques is a great resource for these women.

I guess I'll find out how good of a teacher I am. I have a group of sporty women looking to learn how to play disc golf already lined up and waiting for spring. :D

"What aspect of your game would you most like help/advice with?"

- just an aside...i make all natural bath and body stuff, and I donated a lot of items to our "local adopted" tournament series for prizes (additions to the disc associated prizes), people who received them, really liked them. :) the stuff i make isn't disc associated, but everyone needs to be clean and have nice lips! :D

If Child care was offered for a disc golf event, would it be something you would use? What would you be willing to pay?
