Is the new rule book part of the renewing member package or do I buy one separately ?

I think that I read that it was included but I would call to check.

also my understanding that it is. in the meantime, grab a pdf file from the homepage and print it out. its formatted in the same size as the current book, so with some scissors and/or papercutter you can be the first of your local club to force people to retee sitting two when they lose a disc! woohooo! and then when you get stuck in a tree 20' above the basket cuz you shanked your line you can take the dropin two and pat yourself on the back for such an outstanding shot! :D

that should only happen on holes where the designer decided to make the hole overly-reliant on the 2 meter rule in order to present a challenge. Come to hole 18 at Idlewild and if your drive happens to get stuck 2.1 meters above the playing surface you won't have the double jeopardy any longer of adding a penalty stroke. instead just mark your lie vertically below your suspended disc, shake your head at the bad shot and bad result, and play on.

btw, from what i gather: everytime a new edition of the rule book is released, all PDGA members receive a free copy with their renewal...

I got the 2006 rulebook on Dec. 27th... I thought it was strange, I didn't even register for the first time until September '05 and it came free :)

The new Official Rules of Disc Golf definitely comes with your membership renewal. I just got mine in the mail today.
