Has the BOD ever considered getting college students as interns to help do work at the office. I mean, they need the credits, and im sure there is stuff at eh headquarters that needs straightning out.
This has definately been talked about, and will probably be implemented sometime in the future. As of now, we are slightly cramped in the interim building. Once the permanent building is completed (exp. Oct 06), we will be seriously considering it.

Bard,
When the National Disc Golf Center opens later this year, it will usher in a new era for the PDGA and will provide the organization with many new opportunities that previously just were not possible.
The PDGA is currently in the biggest transitional period in it's history. It is transforming from the small member service organization that the times once called for, to a much more diverse organization with an expanded scope of services which will serve its members far into the future. I have witnessed our sport grow and change drastically in the 16 years I have been playing and I see the PDGA changing with it as the needs of its members and the sport are identified and addressed. We, as members, need to be aware of this metamorphosis and offer our support and assistance during this time rather than our criticism. It is too easy to attack the staff and board on this DISCussion page and blame them for what you perceive should be done. The current BOD is attacked more than any other in history, only because they have been the most active and accomplished more. You can rest assured, a lot is in the works.
Last year at this time, the entire office was located in one small room in Brian Hoeniger and Lorrie Gibson's home on Toronto Island in Canada. When the headquarters was relocated to Georgia last April, the office was expanded to its very own 1,200 sq. ft. building, which allowed the PDGA to double its staff and expand its services. For the first time ever, the organization has a place where we can store equipment, supplies and donated goods. This is huge, as previously the PDGA had to decline these types of donations as it had nowhere to store it.
Later this year, the new 2,700 sq. ft. NDGC headquarters building will open and will give us options that were once just a pipe dream. Summer camps for kids, community outreach programs, disc golf instruction from the top players, and course design seminars to name just a few. We'll also be able to host large international competitions on three world class courses anytime we want. Our members will have a vacation destination point where they can train and play year round. They will also be able to see the history of our sport at the Steady Ed Headrick Frisbee Museum and the Disc Golf Hall of Fame. We have plans for a media center, where the PDGA can collect and archive video footage of the evolution of our sport.
A very cool result of the World Championships being hosted in Augusta this year will be that the NDGC will be the recipient of a lot of equipment after the tournament. Our focus for the worlds will be on production, presentation and professionalism. We plan on investing a good portion of our sponsorship money into some very nice multi-media equipment that will be used at the Worlds and then donated to the PDGA afterwards for use by the NDGC and some of its other events.
The opportunities are truly endless and the future is very bright for the PDGA and the sport of disc golf.
Regards,
Brian Graham

Steve,
That would be a definite YES! ......but first we need a place for the interns to work and some equipment for them to do this work with. Two years ago at the PDGA summit in Arizona, Terry Roddy first proposed the idea of creating the media center and hiring interns to archive years of video footage for the PDGA. We have had so many great ideas for the NDGC proposed to us by members that they are too numerous to list. Many of these are in the works and will be implemented once the NDGC opens.

Right now we need some interns out in the woods on the Headrick course cleaning and removing debris.
