WATERLOO DISC GOLF CLUBS
6TH ANNUAL ICE BOWL
Saturday February 4, 2006
Zilker Park Disc Golf Course (18 Hole Setup)
Signup Begins at 11:00 am
(at Polo Picnic Tables, by hole #1 of the north course)
Start at 12:30 pm
As many of you probably know, the Ice Bowl was started a number of years ago to have a day of disc golf solidarity in the gloom of winter (well, ok it isn't usually THAT gloomy around here, but you get the idea). Every year, clubs and people from around the world gather together to help fight hunger within their communities and to have a day of fun playing disc golf no matter what the weather.
The rules of the Ice Bowl are simple: 1) Under no circumstances can an Ice Bowl be postponed or cancelled; 2) No wimps or whiners allowed; 3) There are no excuses for not attending!
We will be raising money and food for the Capital Area Food Bank. The entry fee is $13 and 3 cans of food (or $15 and no food). For that $13, you will receive either an Ice Bowl Disc and Mini or an Ice Bowl T-Shirt (supplies of both are limited - first come first choice; we will also have long-sleeve shirts, but there is an extra $3 fee for them). After that, we are playing for fun!!! All proceeds will go directly to the charity.
SPECIAL PRIZE TO PERSON WHO BRINGS THE MOST POUNDS OF FOOD!!!
We will also have some CTP contests and maybe some other fun stuff. The whole idea is to have a great time while helping others out who really need it. If you have anything you would like to donate as CTP prizes, please let us know. Anything we receive, we will give away!

Just a reminder that this Saturday is Waterloos Ice Bowl at Zilker. The full info is above.
The person who brings the most food will win a special prize.
It isnt too late to have a small food drive at your place of work. Just put out a box with a sign and let people know they can bring stuff tomorrow or Friday. Then bring it with you to Zilker. The sign can just say something like Food Drive Benefiting Capital Area Food Bank. If you want you can also add something about it being in support of Waterloo Disc Golf Clubs 6th Annual Ice Bowl at Zilker Park.
Also, it would really help the entire event if everyone could bring just a little something for the raffle and/or the ctp games. We never ask for much at Ice Bowl; it can just be a disc, or a shirt, or a mini, or a cool toy, or something that we can give away.
If you have some small silly stuff, bring that too for the Tayloe CTP Bag. This will be a bag of silly things/toys/gags along with coins and bills all contributed by the players for a big ctp prize on one of the holes. Dave always used to bring stuff to start it out, so we want to continue that tradition. I believe that Chris Ware got the bag started last year since Daves health wouldnt allow him to attend (thanks Chris!). I think the most humorous thing Dave ever put in one of these was the package of Anti-Masturbatory Gum :D. Only Father Dave finds stuff like that (and then thinks of how best to use it).
Hope to see you this Saturday!

Live Oak Brewing Co.
Tito's Vodka
Bongos BBQ
Q-Chef and his helpers served us up some tasty hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and beans all day long.
Live Oak gave us some beer (quickly consumed). Mark McCrimmon served up some delicious (and strong) Tito's Vodka drinks following the round.
Bree Smith and Chris Dale brought some small bags of potato chips to sell and donated the money to the food bank.
Bert Lirette brought 40 pounds of canned goods, and won the special prize: a Father Dave pack of plastic (the full color trophy disc from the 28th Waterloo, the INNcolor mini from that tournament, and the memorial disc (with the father dave monk logo and his birth/death dates - 1 of only 15 made).
39 people played 5-5-5, which raised $190. John Brady donated a $100 check. $92 came from the entries of those who didn't bring food. We also sold some additional raffle tickets (all players received one ticket for free).
It looks like the total cash raised is about $500 (will be verified soon). The poundage dropped off at the food bank isn't in yet, but I bet it was a bunch.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made this another successful Ice Bowl. :D:) :D
Finally, thanks to Austin Parks & Rec for giving us a good rate on the picnic area rental and for letting us set up the full Zilker course. It's always a treat to play the whole thing at one time.
Next year: same time, same place

Actually, I only got the mini and the memorial disc. But, they are really cool.
I gave Ugh the double stamped Father Dave mini that I won on a ctp hole. I think he drooled on it but, said he was gonna hang it on the wall. It was the most fun I have had in a long time and I would be happy to staff again next year as long as no one complains. Thanks to everyone !!!
Please don't look at my score, Dave.

Also, 1 week before our Ice Bowl is Live Oak's Ice Bowl. The following info was posted by Yeti "accidentally" on a new ice bowl thread (instead of scrolling down to find the old one :D).
Hope to see some of you down this way for a great cause.......
Live Oak Ice Bowl Benefiting the Educational Disc Golf Experience
Saturday, January 27th in Live Oak, Texas
Pool House is at 7901 Shin Oak Dr in Live Oak, 78233 (Mapquest)
SIGN-UP PRIOR TO 8:30 (please, please, please)
Player Meeting @ 9:00
(2) Rounds of 18 for everybody
1st round for ranking
2nd round will be Nassau on each card (see below)
Pro $35
All Amateurs and Ladies $20 and will receive an Innova Disc
*$5 of every entry and raffle proceeds will go to the Educational Disc Golf Experience to help bring disc golf into the schools of Texas.
*We will also be donating food to the local food bank again this year so please bring dry goods and canned food. (Raffle tickets for food donations)
We have lots of CTP's and other fun planned. Innova Champion has sponsored a basket for the raffle again this year. Please bring anything else you would like to donate for the cause. Any unwanted Christmas gifts are also welcome as well. Come on Sonic Blade!
Looks like Texas Roadhouse and Sweet Leaf Tea are back on board for a terrific hot lunch for just a $5 donation that also goes to EDGE.
Nassau format worked great last year so we will do the same this year. Everyone plays a regular first round. Second round will see each card have a value placed on it. The better your first round is; the more value available to your second round card. Then, the Nassau second round will award the best score on your card for every six holes played and the total score for four chances to win prizes or money. Think of the second round as three mini rounds of six holes and an overall score award.
Come on out and have a great time for a great cause!

Less than 1 week to the Ice Bowl :D

Here are some announcements / extra information / reminders about Ice Bowl:
Signup Begins at 11:00 am (at Polo Picnic Tables, by hole #1 of the north course)
Choice of shirts / discs will be first come first served
Start at 12:30 pm
entry fee is $13 and 3 cans of food (or $15 and no food);
all players will receive an ice bowl shirt (short sleeve) or an ice bowl dx disc&mini; upgrades to long sleeve shirts or higher-end discs are available for a few extra dollars, but quantities are limited
There will be time for the folks to play the Pease Mini that morning, but youll need to come directly to Zilker as soon as your round is over. Ask Dave Moody (or whoever is running it) to call me and let me know that you are on the way. That way we can speed up your registration & hole assignment.
We could use some extra volunteers to help get the course set up, take registrations, make scorecards, etc, plus some stuff at the end of the round. If you can help, please let me know (by PM or by email to
[email protected]). It is easy for volunteers to play too (in fact, most will play), so you wont have to sacrifice taking part in the event just to help. We need folks there around 9 am to help get everything set up.
After the round, we will have a CTP game for a bunch of donated prizes, so bring some extra bucks.
Speaking of prizes, we could really use some donations. We dont go out seeking big sponsorships for Ice Bowl. Instead, we ask that golfers try and bring something small to give away. Could be a disc or a shirt or a towel, or even non-disc golf stuff. We want to make up some nice prize packages for our CTP games, and it would be great to have something to give to 1st place in each division if we can.
Thanks and see you soon!
Gordon

Here we go, it's time for the 2008 Ice Bowl :D

Zilker Park Disc Golf Course (18 Hole Setup)
Signup Begins at 11:00 am

Start at 12:30 pm
Every year, clubs and people from around the world gather together to help fight hunger within their communities and to have a day of fun playing disc golf no matter what the weather.
The rules of the Ice Bowl are simple: 1) Under no circumstances can an Ice Bowl be postponed or cancelled; 2) No wimps or whiners allowed; 3) There are no excuses for not attending!
We will be raising money and food for the Capital Area Food Bank. The entry fee is $13 plus 3 cans of food (or $15 and no food). For that $13, you will receive either an Ice Bowl Disc and Mini OR an Ice Bowl T-Shirt (supplies of both are limited - first come first choice; we will also have long-sleeve shirts and some other discs, but there are extra costs for them). We've got some really nice sponsorship stuff already in from Susan Macaluso and Disc Nation :). Thanks y'all!!!
We could really use a lot more though: discs, minis, shirts, gift cards, cool stuff, weird stuff, etc.
If you are coming out to play, please look around and see if you've got something we could give away. It doesn't have to be much, if everyone brings something, it will all add up to a great pile of prizes.
Also, if anyone would like to bring something to sell to raise money for the charity, please do so. Coffee, hot chocolate, snacks.
Heck, if someone wants to fire up the grill (either the one at the tables or bring their own) and cook something like hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, that would be most wonderful.
Finally, please help spread the word about Ice Bowl this weekend. Because we are a week earlier than usual, we want to make sure everyone knows about it.
Thanks, and we'll see you this Saturday.

WATERLOO DISC GOLF CLUBS
9th ANNUAL ICE BOWL
Saturday January 31, 2009
Zilker Park Disc Golf Course (18 Hole Setup)
Austin, TX
Signup Begins at 11:00 am
(at Polo Picnic Tables, by hole #1 of the north course)
Start at 12:30 pm
http://www.icebowlhq.com/images/ice_bowl/colorib09lo.jpg
Every year, clubs and people from around the world gather together to help fight hunger within their communities and to have a day of fun playing disc golf no matter what the weather. We will be raising money and food for the Capital Area Food Bank at our Ice Bowl.
The rules of the Ice Bowl are simple:
1) Under no circumstances can an Ice Bowl be postponed or cancelled
2) No wimps or whiners allowed
3) There are no excuses for not attending!
The entry fee is $13 plus 3 cans of food (or $15 and no food). For that $13, you will receive either:
Ice Bowl T-Shirt
OR
Ice Bowl Disc (DX plastic) and set of Little Flyer Nesting Minis
(supplies of both are limited - first come first choice; we will also have long-sleeve shirts and some other, higher quality discs, but there are extra costs for them).
After that, we are playing for fun!!!
We will also have some CTP contests and maybe some other fun stuff. The whole idea is to have a great time while helping others out who really need it. If you have anything you would like to donate as CTP prizes, please let us know. Anything we receive, we will give away!
For more information about the Ice Bowl or about the club in general, you can call Gordon Maxim-Kelley at (512) 858-0119
or Lou Moreno at 389-1853. You can also email the club at
[email protected] or check out our website: www.austindiscgolf.org. (http://www.austindiscgolf.org.)

A reminder that Waterloos Ice Bowl is this weekend, Saturday January 31st at Zilker Park.
We've got some nice sponsorship commitments already from DiscNation, Susan Macaluso, and Randy Gerde (yes our long lost Ranch Welder who now lives in the great northwest sent down something really cool!). Thanks y'all!!!
We could really use a lot more though: discs, minis, shirts, gift cards, cool stuff, weird stuff, etc. If you can help round some stuff up, please contact Matt Burton at 507-9999 or
[email protected]
If you are coming out to play, please look around and see if you've got something we could give away. It doesn't have to be much, if everyone brings something, it will all add up to a great pile of prizes.
Also, we are hoping someone would like to do some food or snacks or hot chocolate / coffee to sell. It is a long day out there and some lunch before the round and some snacks or late lunch after the round would be really great. It can really help the fundraising; and even if it just breaks even, at least it is a great service for all the players and staff.
If anyone can do some of this, please contact Matt Burton hell be coordinating it all. (see phone & email info above)
Finally, please help spread the word about Ice Bowl this weekend. We usually get a big turnout and we hope to again this year. Remember, sign up starts at 11 am, tee off is officially at 12:30 (though we usually end up going a bit later than that).
And well be raffling off a basket!
Thanks, and we'll see you this Saturday

Just a couple of final notes about tomorrows Ice Bowl at Zilker:
Looks like well be having some bratwurst for sale before the round as an early lunch (and hopefully some afterwards too), and possibly some pizza after the round. And well have some sodas and gatorades for sale too.
As always, we could use some help setting up and getting everyone checked in. Processing 120-140 people takes some good volunteer effort to get everything done as smoothly as possible. Well try to get to the park about 9:15 tomorrow morning so that we can unload all our stuff and be completely ready to start signing people up at 11 am.
Tomorrow is a great time to renew your club membership for 2009 (or beyond) or to join the club if you arent yet a member.
For current club members (those already current plus those who renew or join tomorrow) you can also renew your 2009 PDGA membership and get a $5 discount off of the pdga renewal fee. Well have the forms with us at the park.
Waterloo Club renewal rates are:
1 Year Renewal $15
3 Year Renewal $40
5 Year Renewal $65
10 Year Renewal $125
Lifetime Renewal $300
You can also renew or join the club online through the Disc Nation website, just click here: http://www.discnation.com/Waterloo-Disc-Golf-Club-Membership-p-15890.html
If your member number is between 1 and 285, then you may be due for renewal. Just open the Member List file on the Membership Page of the website (or just click here: http://www.austindiscgolf.org/docs/member_list_for_website_12-08.htm) and find your name/number. Next to your name will be Current Through December 20xx or a blank space. If the space is blank or if the current through year is 2008, then it is time for you to renew. The list is first in Member Number order; below that it is re-arranged into Member Name order (listed by last name). So if you arent sure of your member number, you can easily find your name in the second list.
If you have joined or renewed in the last month or so, you might not see it on the list yet. Well get it updated shortly after the Ice Bowl.
Our big project at Circle C is going to take a lot of money we are getting some top-notch tee signs and protective frames, for all the tee boxes your membership funds will go a long way towards paying for it all.
Finally, a big Waterloo Thank You to the people and businesses who have already sent Ice Bowl sponsorship or have committed to bringing stuff:
Disc Nation
Dan Mueller
Susan Macaluso
Randy Gerde
Millennium, HouckDesign and Worlds Biggest
Matt Kessler
Play It Again Sports
Shirts420.com
We could still use a lot more though, so we hope youll consider bringing some donations. Thanks!
Its going to be a beautiful day for disc golf tomorrow; see you there,

Wow, what a great Ice Bowl we had at Zilker. The weather was perfect and the turnout was HUGE!
We had 186 people; 50 more than weve ever had before.
We raised $750 for Capital Area Food Bank, which is the most cash weve ever gotten in our 9 years of Ice Bowls.
We also raised 359 pounds of food, which is the 2nd most amount of food.
(Our grand total for the 9 years is: $4,732 cash plus 2,282 pounds of food)
A BIG THANK YOU to all our great sponsors.
DISC NATION is one of the clubs biggest sponsors and always comes through for us, this time with some great gift certificates. Dont forget that you can join the club or renew your membership through their web site. You can also buy club stamped discs from them that help us with our fundraising.
MILLENNIUM, HOUCKDESIGN AND WORLDS BIGGEST as Disc Golf and as Austin as it gets! John & Dee brought a bunch of pizzas and sodas that not only helped ease the hunger after the round, but helped raise some money as we were able to sell the slices for $1 or $2. And it was good tasting pizza too!
PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS is also a regular supporter and chipped in some great gift certificates for 5-5-5.
SHIRTS420.COM donated a ton of their shirts plus donated of all the proceeds from the shirts sold during the event.
RANDY GERDE sent a big box (and a really cool box at that) of smoked salmon from the Great Northwest.
DAN MUELLER donated an Innova Disc Catcher Sport basket that was won by Hugh Pickett in the raffle.
SUSAN MACALUSO sent a bunch of great tie dye!
TEAM JUSTICE brought some awesome discs and stuff from their HOTT tour.
And lots of folks brought discs, shirts, minis and other goodies to give away in 5-5-5 and the raffle, including
MATT KESSLER
JON PEACOCK
JAY & DES READING
WADE KOLB
JIM WADDINGTON
MARK MCCRIMMON
MLOW
STEVE LOESCHEN
SOUTH AUSTIN DISC ASSOCIATION
And there are probably a few Im missing as it was a bit chaotic that morning
I hope to be able to post the full results soon on the Waterloo Club website, www.austindiscgolf.org (http://www.austindiscgolf.org)
In the meantime our division winners were:
Rec Women Jenny Cane & Stephanie Allen 80
Int Women Amanda Aporte (Aponte?) 72
Pro Women Shannon Bowles 68
Rec Men Mike Haymond 63
Int Men Matt Papa 60
Adv.Grand Master Chip Groat 64
Adv.Master Ric Johnson 61
Advanced Men Paul Machado 58
Pro Master John Hovey 56
Open Pro Micah Winters & Alex Downs 55
We had some small donated prizes for first place in each division; most winners picked theirs up, but we still owe a little something to Jenny Cane, Stephanie Allen, Ric Johnson, and John Hovey.
And we had 3 aces:
Billy West #2 south
Cameron Hardy #D (temporary hole)
Zach Doggett #8 north
Finally, thank you to all the staff who made everything run as smoothly as possible:
Lou Moreno, Brad Granier, Laura Hovey, Stevo Barnes, Dan Mueller, Todd Golden, Matt Burton, Matt Kessler, Cesar Arguelles, JR (or is it RT?) Escobedo, Roger Allen, Rick Amaya, and Sheldon Parker
And thanks also to Gary Barron for donating a keg in honor of his 70th birthday; and to Sheldon Parker who also brought a keg.
Cheers,
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

If you have anything you would like to donate as prizes, please let us know or just bring them with you. Anything we receive, we will give away!

Online pre-registration is now available!
As a reminder, it will be very different this year with 2 Flights. Instead of trying to get 175-180 people playing all at once like we did last year, we are going to split into 2 Flights with a maximum of 90 people in each; Flight 1 will tee-off at 10 AM and Flight 2 will tee-off at 2 PM.
This means it is very important to pre-register so that you are sure to be able to play in the flight that you want.
Click here to go straight to the registration page: http://www.discnation.com/Waterloo-Ice-Bowl-p-20414.html

Pre-registrations are coming in at a good pace, around 25 of them already; most of them choosing to play in Flight 1 (tees at 10 am).
Click here to pre-register through Disc Nation: http://www.discnation.com/Tournaments--Events-p-1-c-291.html
or mail it in soon; it has to ARRIVE at the club's PO Box by Friday, Feb 5th.
WDGC, PO Box 33531, Austin, TX, 78746
The flights will only hold 90 players each, so pre-register now to get the flight of your choice.

It looks like the weather just might give us a nice Ice Bowl day on Saturday, with the rain taking a break for a couple of days.
However, Zilker is going to be very muddy.
The Parks Dept has gotten us some mulch (which apparently is in very high demand right now), and the use of some equipment, so we are going to have a short workday to get it spread prior to the Ice Bowl. The Dept should be dumping it in many of the areas it needs to go, but it will be up to us to take it from there.
Tomorrow, Friday Feb 5th, in the early-to-mid afternoon, we need some volunteers to help spread this mulch. Well have some rakes and shovels available, but if you have your own and can bring it, please do. Better to have to many than not enough.
Dan Mueller is heading out there about 1:30 pm or a little after, and Mike Olse and Josh Rippie will be out there earlier (helping get the mulch out to its locations), so please come out and help if you can. Dan can be reached at 293-7592 if you have any questions.

Speaking of Ice Bowl, we could use a few extra volunteers on Saturday to help run it. With 2 flights, it will be possible for all the volunteers to also play. But it also means that we will need some folks around at all times to help with check-in / registration as well as membership/renewal drives, sales, plus our putting game and our 5-5-5 CTP game. If you can help out, please let me know. Well be getting to the park about 7:30 am to unload and get everything set up so we can begin checking people in at 8:30 am.
We could also really use some more sponsors. We need merchandise, gift certificates, etc to give away in our raffle, CTP and putting games, plus a few other prizes. Even if you can only bring a disc or shirt or mini, please do so. Everything we receive we will give away! So far we have our major sponsors Millennium, Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend, and Disc Nation. We also have commitments/merch from Wanna Play Disc Golf, Sister Sue Dye 4 U, little e - Fairway Factory, DGU Disc Golf United, and shirts420.com. Thank you so much to all our supporters!!!
PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-registration has gone really well. We have over 45 people already signed up, with most of them choosing to play in Flight 1. Each flight can only hold 90 people, so if there is a particular flight in which you wish to play, it would be best to go ahead and pre-register. It is pretty much too late to do it by mail (wed have to have it in our PO Box by tomorrow), so your best option is to go to the Disc Nation web site and sign up online. The site will only be accepting pre-registrations until noon tomorrow (Friday), so dont delay. The link is: http://www.discnation.com/product.php?productid=20414
As a reminder, Flight 1 tees off at 10 am; and Flight 2 tees off at 2 pm.
Starting at 8:30 am on Saturday morning, we will begin checking people in and taking registrations for any available spots. Everyone who registers, whether through pre-registration or by showing up on Saturday and getting a spot, will get an Ice Bowl disc or Ice Bowl t-shirt. However, what disc you get, or what size/color t-shirt you get, or if you want to upgrade to a long-sleeve shirt or better quality disc, is all on a first-come-first-choice basis. We will have enough Ice Bowl merchandise to cover all 180 players if we fill up both flights, so if you are pre-registered in the 2 pm flight, you dont have to be there first thing in the morning. But if you want a particular item (like a Large long-sleeve shirt or a champion boss instead of a dx roc or dx aviar) then the earlier you get there the better chance well still have what you want.
Well have a putting game going all day and the 5-5-5 CTP game going all day, plus a big raffle and maybe some other stuff too, so bring extra dollars, bring a jacket, and come have a great Ice Bowl day at Zilker with Waterloo Disc Golf Club!

Just a reminder about the Waterloo Clubs Ice Bowl coming up on Saturday at Zilker Park. On-line pre-registration through Disc Nation is going strong, and we have over 30 people already confirmed. There will only be 1 flight this year, and the maximum number of people that can play is 126.
Here is a link to the Disc Nation events section: http://www.discnation.com/Tournaments-Events.html
We could really use some more sponsorship for this event. We arent asking for any big amount from anyone, but a disc or two here, a shirt there, or even non-disc related stuff is great too. We need things to give away in our CTP game (5-5-5), and some raffle prizes too. Our raffle grand prize will be a brand new Discatcher Sport Basket, so bring some extra money for raffle tickets and the CTP contest.
We already have confirmed as sponsors: Disc Nation, Twin Parks Country Club, and Sister Sue Dye 4 U; thanks Yall!!!
If you can donate something, please let me know so I can add you to our sponsor list, then just bring it to the park on Saturday. If you would like to make a monetary donation as sponsorship, you can do so by check and you can make it payable to Capital Area Food Bank so that you get the tax deduction credit for it (they will mail you a letter for your tax records).
We could also use some help during the day, especially for food. Wed like to do something similar to what we had at the Pease Memorial minis, something easy and basic like sausage wraps, with maybe chips and cookies. And hot chocolate too it looks like it will be cold that morning.
There is a regular grill down there, but it takes charcoal. A gas grill would be much more convenient and easier to get started and re-started.
So we are looking for someone (or a few someones) who can bring down a grill, buy some food and some drinks/cups, cook the food and heat the water (yeah I know, the hardest part is boiling the water), sell and serve the food and drinks. Wed love to have hot chocolate available in the morning (and maybe later in the day if it stays cold), and food available both before and after the round.
Please let me know if you can help with some part of this. We need to get it set up and organized in advance so that it is easy to deal with on Saturday.
We will also likely need some help getting set-up in the morning, and getting people registered/checked in, getting their merch; you know, running them down the gauntlet of that long picnic table we use :).
Finally, as a reminder, it is limited this year to 126 people only, so pre-registration is advised, or show up early to sign up that morning. We will start taking signups at 11 am, but in past years we have usually had a good sized line already waiting by then. The parking lot by the polo picnic tables and the north part of the course will fill up quickly. There is the smaller lot by the south part of the course, and there are a few other lots along the park road BEFORE you get to the course.
Even if you have pre-registered, the discs and shirts are still first come, first choice. We have lots of DX discs and short sleeve shirts, but types, colors, weights, sizes, etc of each are limited. We also have long sleeve shirts for an extra $5 and some better discs, including a few Innova INNcolor and Discraft Supercolor discs, ranging in price from an extra $6 to an extra $25. So the earlier you get there, the more likely youll find just what you want.
Phew, this ended up being a lot longer than I planned. Have a great week, stay warm, and we hope to see you on Saturday for another fun Ice Bowl!
Gordon

Thank You to everyone who came out to Zilker on Saturday for Waterloos 12th Annual Ice Bowl!
*
We had more than a full field, but not too many more so we managed to get everyone in.* J
*
We did have one problem at the end though:* one of the players had his bag picked up at the end of the night by someone else. It was a black Innova bag with 18 discs (though there was no name on the discs).
*
We're hoping it was mistaken identity rather than someone intentionally stealing it. Either way though, please help us get this bag back.* We arent interesting in nailing anyone to the wall, we just want to get his discs and bag back for him (and wed do the same for any of you too).* You can email the club at
[email protected] or call the clubs cell phone number (512-994-9508) if you have this missing bag or if you know who does no questions asked. Thanks for the cooperation!

We gave away an Innova Discatcher Sport Basket in the raffle.* It was claimed that night, but we do still have a few more unclaimed prizes.* The list is below, so if you have any of these raffle tickets just let us know.

Waterloo Disc Golf Club would like to thank the sponsors of this year’s Ice Bowl:
Disc Nation
Team Justice
Captain Kirk
Barnes Contracting
Sister Sue Dye 4 U
Mark McCrimmon
Jeremy Mount
Wade Kolb
Tim Payne
Aissa Gines
Blu Romero
Plus all the people who contributed to the Father Dave Tayloe Bag ‘o Shwag CTP prize. Byron Kurka won the CTP with a shot 11 inches from #9 on Zilker’s south side.
We had a great staff again this year. All these people stepped up and helped out, some a little, some a lot, making it possible to put on such a fun, fantastic event: Roger Allen, Stephanie Allen, Jazmine Arguelles, Stevo Barnes, Rich Collins, Dale Gibbins, Chip Groat, Phil Haik, Troy Herman, James McCaine, Jeremy Mount, Matt Papa, Sheldon Parker, Josh Rippie, Aaron Stair, Del Stair, Joe Torrence, Rick Vigil.
Our 5-5-5 CTP winners were: Gus Calvo (who aced the front left basket), Hugh Picket, Andre Pesez, Theron Fisk, and Tony (Dieterich I think, but might have been Ruiz). All received Disc Nation gift certificates plus a stack of other donated prizes.
We gave away a basket in our raffle, plus some more Disc Nation certificates and other prizes AND 2 amateur entries to a 2012 Team Justice C-Tier event. Hadley Stuart and David Corder will soon be taking part in an awesome Team Justice tournament J
We had 139 players, 6 people who paid but didn’t play, and 4 who were non-playing staffers, for a total of 149 people.
And finally… we raised 169 pounds of food (equating to 155 meals) plus $600 in cash (lots and lots of meals) for our charity: Capital Area Food Bank.
Thanks again, the club looks forward to doing this all again in 2013!

There has been a great response so far to the online pre-registration for Waterloos Ice Bowl on Feb 2nd (done through Disc Golf United). Within minutes of the postings and the email going out on Monday we had our first sign-up: John Hovey fastest keyboard in the west! Well have a special prize for John in honor of his speediness.
10 or 11 people signed up that first evening, about 5 more registered yesterday, and we are now up to 20.
Signing up online costs the full $15 entry fee, but if you bring 3 or more cans / non-perishable food items with you on Saturday, you will still receive the $2 discount when you check-in. Also, DGU is waiving their administrative fees as part of their sponsorship of Ice Bowl.

The club is looking for more sponsors for our Ice Bowl. We already have three big sponsorships: Disc Nation, Houck Design, and Disc Golf United. A big Waterlooooooo Thank You to these 3 great companies!!!
If you or your club or your company can sponsor, it would help us out a lot. We need lots of merchandise sponsorship for our raffle and CTPs and other giveaways. Cash is always wonderful too, and you can make your check payable directly to Capital Area Food Bank in order to get the tax benefit of a charitable donation.
We hope to raise a lot of money and a lot of food for the Capital Area Food Bank to help them with their important mission of keeping people fed here in Central Texas, but we need your help to do it.
All sponsors will be recognized at the event, on our web site, and through our social media.
Please let us know if you can donate so we can add you to the list. Send emails to
[email protected] or
[email protected], or call the club cell phone: 512-994-9508. You can bring your sponsorship with you to Zilker Park the morning of the Ice Bowl (Sat. Feb 2nd) or you can mail it ahead of time to us at: WDGC, PO Box 33531, Austin, TX, 78764. Please send it early enough so that it arrives by Thursday, Jan. 31st.
Thanks!

Sorry, but online registration is now closed. We had to lower the online limit down to 90 because of the number of registrations that came in not-online. There are still 20-25 spaces left for walk-up registrations tomorrow at the park. They will be sold on a first come basis. Registration and check-in officially starts at 10 am, but there is usually a line that forms before then, so please try to get there early.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Ice Bowl on Saturday, and to those who couldn't make it out but still helped or sponsored the event!
Here are the Raffle Prize and Mulligan Prize winning ticket numbers. Some of the prizes have already been picked up but most still need to be claimed, including both Grand Prizes (Innova Discatcher Basket in the raffle and Innova Traveller Basket in the mulligans).
Sorry about the "crammed together format", I've never figured out how to paste in columns/cells on these discussion boards.
If you have any of these numbers, save the ticket and contact the club by posting here, emailing
[email protected], or calling the club cell phone 512-994-9508.
A little bit later today we'll get the scores posted, and later this week we'll announce the total amount of money and food raised for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Online pre-registration is under way. Out of the 90 available spots for pre-registration, we already have 65 people signed up. To get one of the remaining spots, go to Disc Golf United: http://www.discgolfunited.com/disc-golf-tournaments/tournament-dashboard.cfm/tourn_id/2738

Time is running out to pre-register for Waterloos 15th Annual Ice Bowl at Wells Branch, Saturday, January 31st! There are only 24 spots still left for pre-registration, and that closes at 11:45 pm Thursday, January 29th. Click here to get signed up:
http://www.discgolfunited.com/disc-golf-tournaments/tournament-dashboard.cfm/tourn_id/2738
If you miss the deadline, you will still have a chance to play this years Ice Bowl. We will have about 25 30 spots available Saturday morning, given out on a first come first served basis. Late-registration and check-in officially starts at 10 am, but there is usually a line that forms well before then, so try to get there early.
Please bring extra funds with you to the event. In addition to the opportunity to get a higher quality disc (than the DX in the package) or a long sleeve shirt or tie-dyed t-shirt (instead of a regular t-shirt), there will also be a big raffle with the grand prize of an Innova Discatcher Basket. Well have some mulligans for sale and the buyers of mulligan tickets will have the chance to win an Innova Traveller basket. Plus there will be some pay-per-throw CTPs and we will have some extra Ice Bowl merchandise (I definitely over-ordered this year ).
Martin Rendon will be there cooking and selling breakfast tacos in the morning and brisket tacos for lunch before the round starts; just $2 per taco. After the round, well be going over to Spinners across the street for food and drink, and putting games and awards.
Also we will have the traditional Father Dave Tayloe CTP during the round. This is a player driven CTP package, something Father Dave did a lot. We will pass around a bag at the players meeting so people can put in small items, silly things, and/or money. Nothing says Father Dave like silly (and no one minds winning change and bills), so please try to bring something for the bag.
We are also still seeking sponsors for Ice Bowl, small and large. We dont make a huge sponsorship push for this event because we save that for the big Waterloo Disc Golf Classic each year, so we really keep the Ice Bowl at a lower key. We mainly need prizes and merchandise for our raffle and CTPs. A disc here, a shirt there, all goes a long way towards making up some good prizes. If you would like to sponsor with money, you can make a check payable directly to Capital Area Food Bank in order to get the tax benefit of a charitable donation. Just bring any donation you have with you on Saturday. You dont have to play to be a sponsor, feel free to just drop by and hang out for a while if you wish.
Thanks,
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's Ice Bowl a success despite the, shall we say, less-than-ideal conditions! We still have a lot of unpacking, sorting, and cleaning up to do, but here are some basic, not very cleaned up results from yesterday. We'll have a lot more to post tomorrow and Tuesday, including better versions of these items. We hope you had a great time (we did) and have fun watching the Super Bowl today.

After posting that 'rough info' yesterday, I went to a great Superbowl party, and then I've been away from the house today until this evening, so I'm going to try to get some more Ice Bowl info posted.
To collect any prizes you won (raffle, mulligan, ctp, 1st place in your division), I will be down at Zilker Park this Thursday evening for the glow random doubles that Meteor Mike Schulgen runs. Come on down to Zilker, I should be there by 5:30 - 6:00 pm and will be there until it is over. I won't be playing so just look for me in the parking lot.
I will also be at Bart this Saturday morning for the weekly club mini. I probably will play this one, so will try to be there by 9:00 - 9:15 so you can get stuff before the round at 10:00 (and hopefully stick around to play) or you can come by after the round, I'll definitely hang around until 1:00 pm, maybe a bit later depending on how many people are there and how late the mini runs, etc. Thanks!

THANK YOU very much to all the wonderful sponsors this year!!! I have attached some links to few photos from some of the really neat things given (Disc Golf Wine Set by Personal Wine, Girl Scout Cookie Basket by Sonya & Ricky Amaya, Wire Sculpture by Jo Jo), but there were a lot more including some great discs. (oh and the cookie basket looked a LOT better when they gave it; this photo is after multiple car rides and a day at the park in damp, unpleasant conditions).
