Hello all!

Thanks to all who were prepared to help out last Saturday, although
the weather was not on our side. We plan to move ahead with a revised
plan of attack!

The PDGA will be hosting work days on the following consecutive weekends:

Saturday, February 18th (9am)
Saturday, February 25th (9am)

In case of inclement weather, the default from now on will be the
following day, Sunday, at 12 noon.

Tell a friend, and bring whatever tools you feel would be beneficial.
We'll have a chainsaw, and a variety of hand tools, gloves, hardhats,
etc. We just need you!

Please find a way to fit these days into your schedule, as your
assistance in the NDGC project will contribute to more courses in the
area, and therefore turn you into a better player! Remember: Helping
build disc golf courses helps build your disc golf Karma.

It won't be all work, however. We always find a way to play a few
holes, maybe even organize some "action". In addition, the PDGA will
be documenting your volunteer hours and those who contribute will be
rewarded accordingly.

In addition, if any of you are able to be of assistance during the
week, please contact me. I'm looking to get out of the office a
couple of days during the week, and need some folks to help with the
chainsaw work. (So I don't die.) Tuesdays and Thursdays would be
preferable, but depends on your schedule.

Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you at the workdays!

Cheers!

Matt Gillis

Hey All!!

Many thanks to the following disc golfers who came out to help with the last two workdays (despite the not so perfect weather):

Dave Gentry
Brian Hoeniger
Mike Newman
Charles Kneiblher

We got a bunch accomplished and two more holes are playable. Here's some of the damage we inflicted:

Here's the inside route for #5, we cleared the landing zone and fairway:

Here's the big Hyzer out over the water (just for fun, no work here):

Hole 6: Before

After:

The weather is just about perfect for camping, so if you'd like to make a run up, (down, over) to the NDGC, we'd love to have you. There's plenty of work, and a few baskets, so stop on by and help build these amazing courses!

Stay tuned for more as it becomes available!

How long will the project of building the courses at the NDGC be going on? Cuz after AM Worlds is over I sure would be interested in coming to help out with whatever needs to be done.

Building courses is FUN! Especially the SICK ones :p

Well, the project of building the courses at the NDGC will be going on for quite some time, and probably will never be truly "finished".

A better question: How long until all the tee pads and baskets are installed on the courses?

This is contigent on many factors, the main one being how soon can we get all the downed limbs and the smaller, fallen trees off of the fairways. We've put some serious work on the North Course thus far, and have approx 14 holes in "ready" position. (playable, and ready for tees and baskets).

There's one really problematic hole on the North, #11, that spans approx 3 acres, with three separate fairways. The timber company attacked this area pretty good and left lots of limbs and debris, there's too much work for hand laborers. We're in the process of working with Columbia County, and a few outside companies to determine the most cost effective removal strategy.

When dealing with heavy machinery, the prices grow quickly.

We're in the planning stages of increasing the volunteer work days, and are looking forward to throwing some campouts/cookouts in the near future. There's more than enough work here, so we can use all the help we can get.

How long would a tractor ride take from Tulsa to Augusta?

ps. These course are going to be some of the sickest around. Every time we complete clearing on another one, I have a new favorite hole.

Buy a Gator. Sounds like it would be well used in the initial construction of the courses, just driving to remote sections of the courses will save time and energy, and then being able to bring out concrete, water, wheelbarrows, tools, lumber, sounds like a good investment for this facility. They can be got used. Just be FROOOGLE.
