I just wanted to share an interesting bit of good news/statistic.
As of Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2006, the PDGA office had processed more PDGA memberships than were processed throughout all of the year 2000.

That's great on overall numbers no matter how you look at it. When was membership required for A-tiers since that was before NT started? I was thinking that had an impact in bumping numbers whenever that happened.

I think you are correct Chuck.
But it needed to be done. Maybe not on the B-tier level yet, but for sure at the A-tier and above.

I think this here message board has had a bigger effect on early renewals than anybody had anticipated, even in their wildest dreams.

that and disappearing stats for members who have exceeded tehir grace period (or as the the code referes to them, as "fallen from grace" members :) )
Even if by this date the vast majority of 2006's tally has commited, that's great news. I'm thankful for this organization, bigtime.

Actually, it's probably Terry's email newsletter that has driven up the timing of renewals, which is a large part of the reason we're ahead of schedule (percentage-wise) this time of year. Thanks, Terry!

I think that everything listed above plus a whole lot more is responsible for it. Lots of good things, better communications, beefing up staff and staff roles, you name it. Let's keep that disc rolling!

Maybe the Affiliate Club Program too.

how many people were members between 1-1-2000 and 12-31-2004 but have not renewed? a churn or drop-off rate might be informative also. (i deliberately left out no-renewed 2005 members because they are still in the process of renewing, so it wouldnt be fair to include them.)

Personally I think it is entirely due to the PDGA Course Evaluation Program. ;)

i think it is a combination of factors. more courses. the coolness factor of being a member. the rush to get a number under 30,000... our leadership (there'd be people criticizing them if the numbers were bad so it's only fair to give them credit).
clearly [ ;) ] what really put us over the top though was the elimination of the 2 meter rule unless it's specificly turned on by a TD. that, and the realization of the public at large that disc sports are way cool and preferred by 3 out of 4 athletes who try them :D

Patently absurd, as per usual, Neon.
It's all due to Disc Golf Live being on the air across the country on community TV. Smiley. Smiley.

Indeed, the increase in memberships is due entirely to the wisdom of the near deletion of the 2MR.
Just think of the break-through when we eliminate it entirely! :D
One grin is enough Pat.

Great job PDGA! But, i think some of the thanks should go to the members out there that have brought new people to the sport.
Carry on....

Oh, come on! It's the abolition of the two-meter penalty as the default rule. :D

Cmon you guys...sheesh.
We all know the reason is because they do it so much more efficiently in their new "digs."

Less swearing on the message board must be the reason. :)
