ATTENTION GEORGIA & SOUTH CAROLINA DISC GOLFERS
Six disc golf baskets were stolen from the new Hippodrome Course in North Augusta, SC sometime between Sunday, April 2nd and Monday, April 3rd. These include one (1) Innova DisCatcher Portable and five (5) Innova Traveler baskets. Due to this unfortunate incident, the Hippodrome Course has been closed and will only be set up for official club events.
We need your help in trying to locate this stolen equipment. Please print out a few copies of the reward poster linked below and post it at your local course. We also ask you to spread the word to all disc golfers you see to keep an eye out for this equipment and to call the number on the flyer with any leads. All tips will remain confidential.
A silver SUV (possibly a Jeep Liberty or similar vehicle) was seen parked near the baskets on Sunday afternoon, April 2nd. We do not know if this vehicle is involved in the theft but we would like to talk to the owner to get any helpful information.

Any leads yet? This is just terrible news.

Someone should make a basket "The Club" to lock down a basket and make it unusable. Like a big metal spiral that wraps around the chains and uses a key lock or combo lock. Eh?

ok, I was hoping to play the Hippodrome course this weekend. Is there any way to navigate the course sans baskets? Poles? Posts? Flags? It's 3 months before worlds, I'd like to get out there and practice the course before the heat sets in.
Good luck finding the baskets though. Travelers are great baskets. Are there plans for a permanent installation before Worlds? If so, when?
Hoping to play Olmstead, PK and Hippodrome this Sunday.

Through a very generous sponsorship from Discraft, 18 permanent ChainStar baskets have been ordered and are currently being shipped to the Hippodrome. They should arrive sometime next week and will be installed as soon as possible. I will post an announcement on this thread as soon as the course is set up and playable again.

Note: Holes 4 and 17 have recently been changed but I have not seen the changes yet. I will update the course map and repost as soon as the permanent baskets have been installed.
Our plan is to have Lake Olmstead, Riverview and the Hippodrome, as they will be played in the Worlds, ready to debut at the Augusta Classic on June 3-4. Dave Gentry will be TD of that event and will be running two courses simultaneously. Pro divisions will play 2 rounds at the Hippodrome on Saturday followed by 2 rounds at Lake Olmstead on Sunday. The Am divisions will play 2 rounds at Lake Olmstead on Saturday followed by 2 rounds at Riverview Park on Sunday.

Looked at the Hippodrome map. looks challenging. are the OBs somewhat clearly marked? Are those woods, brush, or tall grass, the foliage on the map.
Is the OB on 15 and 16 water, marsh, or what?
Looks like a beast of a course.

The O.B. areas are clearly marked with yellow tape and orange flags. All of the foliage shown on the map, with the exception of the foliage within the power easement, are woods. The O.B areas within the power easement on holes 15 and 16 are currently the thickest, nastiest briar patch you've ever seen. These areas will be completely mowed down and the O.B. areas will instead be delineated with rope or tape like the other holes.
This is definitely the toughest course in the Augusta area by far. What the map does not show are the hills and the near constant winds on this hilltop course. Par is 64 and based upon the scores shot out there recently at the NDGC Fundraiser tournament, the current SSA (Scratch Scoring Average) is 64.04. 1986 PDGA World Champion, Johnny Sias, won the Open division a few weeks ago out there with a 36-hole total score of +3.

Hippodrome was fun. Wanted to thank Matt Gillis for showing me around today. Like my own personal guide to the Worlds.
Hippodrome is a beast! Must start throwing Monsters and Starfires on those roped holes. I went 3 for 3 on OB drives on the first 3 holes.
18 is a bear. Is that really a par 5, or a par 6? that last shot is just way around the corner, with no real landmark to clue you in to basket location. I suggested trimming some of the sumac on the inside of the corner so you won't have to walk 300 feet up the fairway to figure out how far the basket is. I gave up trying to spot where it was and misjudged by probably 80 feet too early.
I liked a lot of the holes a lot. That's gonna be a fun course.

Hey Scott,
Great to hear you are involved in the disc golf scene in Jacksonville. I hope to get down there one of these days to play the course.
The ChainStar baskets arrived at the Hippodrome this morning and will be installed sometime in the next two weeks. Everyone will get a chance to preview that course at the Augusta Classic on June 3-4. Pete has plans to make the Hippodrome a pay-to-play course following the Worlds.

Thanks Brian, I look forward to playing the Hippodrome again soon. Thats one heck of an awesome course.
I know it would be tough to make it but we are holding our tournament on June 10 & 11. Jacksonville would love to see some of you Augusta guys come down and play in it.
