The 2006 disc golf season has already begun. Are there more people out on the course
this year? It seems there are massive amounts of people out playing this spring.
Terry Miller's event in Janesville, WI filled up so fast he had to add a second day.
The courses are going to be packed when the temperature hits the 70's. We have lots
of exciting events and announcements in this April Newsletter. 2006 is going to be a
HUGE year!

There were 9 club members that headed down to Bowling Green on April 1st & 2nd.
There was a field of 554 players. Wow!!!! The eight that played were Jose Diaz, Andy
Filipiak, Ray Hill, Juan Lopez, Tom McManus, Dan Michler, Mike Schlaak, & Jason
Poole. Terry Miller also made the trip as a Marshall. This event was one of the
biggest events ever. It was the third largest only behind both combined worlds of
2000 and 2004. It was the second largest Amateur event ever only behind 2004 Am
Worlds in Des Moines, IA which had 579 players. Congrats to all those who made the
trip! Glad to hear everyone made it back after traveling through all the bad weather
back.

Brett Comincioli is running Fairfield Dubs at Fairfield Park in Round Lake, IL on
Saturday April 15th. This event will be best shot doubles. There are 2 divisions of
Pro & Am. Pro=$65.00 & Am=$45.00 per team. 14 teams have preregistered and the field
has max capacity of 40 players. It will be 2 rounds of 20 holes and cash payout to
both divisions. $5.00 from each team will go towards the purchase of a practice
basket for Fairfield Park. Tom McManus donated a sweet Gentlemen's Cup disc signed
by Schultz and Feldberg. There will be a CTP for this disc. You can find out more
information about the event at this link. A flyer is attached->

The 2006 Illinois Open Series is about to kick off at UW Parkside in Kenosha, WI on
April 22nd and 23rd. Last year the event drew 101 players over a couple of miserable
snowy and cold days. We expect a large increase of players this year. About 30
players have preregistered for this event as of 04/07. We highly encourage you to
preregister as many events in the Midwest are filling to capacity. You can check
www.brasscash.com (http://www.brasscash.com) for all the details.

DISContinuum is running a high school shootout for high school students. It will be
1 round of 18 holes at Adler Park in Libertyville, IL on May 8th at 5:00PM. Any
high school student is welcome to play. We will be teaching basic rules of
tournament play prior to the round. Check this link for details->

Most area leagues are getting back in action now that there is more daylight. Here
is a link to some area leagues.->
http://discontinuum.org/forums/index.php/topic,1744.0.html We are trying to compile
information of any weekly league between Milwaukee and Joliet. Please feel free to
add any league information you have.

There are some fun resources on the internet. Check out Disc TV at
www.discgolftv.com. (http://www.discgolftv.com.) They have some great coverage of major events and interviews.
PDGA radio has a weekly show with coverage of major events and 60 second clinics
with top players on tour. Check it out at www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com)

DISContinuum has 72 current members in 2006. We hope you consider joining the club.
Without the support of the disc golf community this club would not exist. Each year
the club continues to grow and do more things for players and disc golf. Hopefully
one day DISContinuum will grow large enough to host an A-Tier or some other special
venture. Here is a link to the club membership page which lists the benefits to
joining the club.->http://discontinuum.org/club-info/Membership.php

One last note. Help out your tournament directors and renew your PDGA memberships
prior to the first event that you plan to play this year. Please preregister for
events if it is offered. It's a two way street. It lightens the load for the TD and
volunteers saving time and making operations run smoother. For players it assures a
spot and gets you out of the course throwing rather than standing in line.

Warm weather is on the way at last! Hope to see you out on the course.
