It's not really the Peoria Open everyone is used to but it will bridge the gap until next year. We run good events for amateurs and do 100% [PDGA math] payouts for pros. Our last tournament drew 203 players, so we must be doing something right.

Sweet! I'm definately going to this tourney, and I'm bringing a few women with. Us Madison ladies could use a little practice on the courses before the USWDGC. BTW, I think the PFC does an excellent job maintaining the courses down there.

So, Marie, what do you think? Right now the plan is for Pro and Advanced divisions to play Saturday from the long tees, which are longer tees than you played at USWDGC. They are mostly dirt tees that are back from the concrete tees.

Would pro and advanced women rather (A) maybe not get ratings but get to play USWDGC tees, or (B) definately get ratings by having their divisions play on the lower day, or (C) get ratings playing the long tees with the pro and advanced men on the pro/advanced day? If we have five pro and advanced rated women they will get ratings no matter what tees they play, but we don't always get five.

I know you and Kelsey have figured out how to find lots of competitors on the short tee day, but I'm not sure if other pro and advanced rated women are clued into this.

I'd still leave the adv/pro women on Saturday and have them play the same tees as everyone else. Even though the tees wouldn't be the exact same as for the USWDGC, they are still getting practice on the course. If the adv/pro women want to play the same tees as the USWDGC, then they can play rec/int men on Sunday. I'm thinking about playing both days just for additional practice. It never hurts to play the long tees. It makes the short tees that much easier.

I've been trying to convince other women that it's not so bad playing with the guys. For starters, it's always a huge rush beating a guy in a tournament. Secondly, the fields are huge and every stroke counts. Take IOS #1...if I had been playing women's with Kelsey and Carla as my only competition in a women's division, the placement would have been set after the first round. Kelsey was definately in first, I was definately in second, and Carla was definately in third. However, they weren't my only competition, I had 40 other players to compete against. I had an incentive to keep fighting. Although, I had a lot of ground to gain on Kelsey, I could still catch a few other guys who were more in reach. Heck, one more stroke, and I would've cashed. It really improves the game.

I just wanted to reiterate that this tournament is going as indicated. Dave Gentry is on vacation playing disc golf in Japan, so the sanctioning agreement might not get processed until Wednesday. But the tournament is going.

The person with the best score at The Peoria Open on the Advanced/Pro day who informs me that they are committed to attend the 2006 USDGC will receive the state coordinator exemption. They must then immediately send in their registration. If no one who attends Peoria is committed to going then the exemption will go to Rockford. If no one is committed to going from Rockford or the person who qualifies does not register, then I'll give it away to someone who is committed to going.
