Liz Shooner (aka: Rookie of the Year candidate Liz Ransdell-Shooner) started a women's league locally here in the Cincinnati area and the league got nice coverage in the newspaper:

Shannon Rogers of Breckenridge, CO was featured as the huge front page photo in the Summit Daily News on Monday, June 12. The sports section also had a large photo of me putting. Both photos were taken at the Peak One Championships in Frisco, CO. Unfortunately, there was no accompanying article, and I can't find the photos online.

This was pretty big to even have photos of disc golf in the paper because the peninsula where the Frisco course is located is infested with pine beetles (as are most of the mountains of CO) and the disc golf course is slated for major cutting in 2007. The area is a nordic center in the winter for telemarking, and the people who use the area for skiing have been making the most noise about the tree removal. This at least brings more awareness to the other sports that enjoy the peninsula.
