I would have voted for the ignore option but I have the ability to ignore and ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away.

Isn't it funny how Nick now posts his usual drivel with his "official MADC business" DISCussion board account? I guess too many people had his regular account on ignore.

i do find Nick helpful sometimes (mainly when he comments on PDGA Rules issues) but after reading his very adverserial thread/poll about our new BoD member Pat 'sandalman' Brenner -- i felt compelled to start a little tongue-in-cheek poll about Nick to give him a taste of that kind of 'medicine' (i also decided to make it less biased than the poll Nick started here (http://www.pdga.com/msgboard/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=581137&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1) )
Nick, what was your intention in starting the poll about Pat?

I'm surprised this thread is still here. Usually threads that are about being mean towards a member get a quick axe.

Rhett_the_Admin wasnt an admin for a short time. PM him if this one should be removed. in the absence of a complaint, i cannot remove it myself. should i receive such a complaint, i would also need to remove the one Neon started though.

which thread this one or Nick's?
do a side-by-side comparison of the two polls and it would be hard to delete this one and not Nick's -- but not so hard to delete Nick's and not this one. right?

All mean spirited threads started against a single member should probably be deleted, but following that rule in the past would have taken out a lot of interesting threads.

Nick, what was your intention in starting the poll about Pat?
Rob, I state my intention as clearly as I can on that thread. I am concerned, based on actual actions and words of Pat, that he may well be a problem for the PDGA and was wondering what others think about it as he heads into service. I hope he is able to benefit the PDGA and its efforts to promote disc golf on the level that it does.
I find it fascinating that no one ever spoke out about his constant belittlement of the PDGA and its volunteers and staff or his known actions on behalf of the PDGA (or lack there of), rather they joined him in his railing against folks with known and tangible benefit to the PDGA and now come out in defense of someone of his minimal record and questionable motivation.
I guess that's just the nature of this (message board) beast. Mob rule, mob mentality. One of many reasons I laugh at any suggestion to make this a mechanism for any official PDGA business...
By the way, I agree that it was a mistake to post that poll in retrospect. Pat should have a clean slate in most folks minds to succeed as a PDGA Board Member, even though I have many personal doubts about him. As Jessie Jackson says,"Keep hope alive!". Heck, maybe even Rhett will someday be able to examine an issue from two sides, right? Well, maybe not, but that doesn't mean we can't give Pat a chance.
But, really, what fun would this board be if everyone was nice to one another. Conflict has proven to be what folks want here. We run like kiddies to the candy aisle at a supermarket to threads where someone has "worked" someone else.
Like the machines in the Matrix, we tried a world where everyone lead perfect poster lives and it keeps on reverting. I've noticed even you, Rob, diving right in in respect to this, more than once.
The main thing is not to take all of this stuff too seriously. Some folks get bent way too far out of shape about this stuff. Use your ignore feature, speak your mind, just don't go crying to mommy when you decide to get serious (the game within the game). Nothing really ever gets done of any value here policy-wise. Even the tourney info is weak compared to word of mouth or certainly a call to the TD. Let's not get too bent out of shape about this herd of long tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs. Just have fun and enjoy it for what it is. Which is not a fat lot.

i find it fascinating that Nick is now belittling a Board Member.
i have never complained about the thread Nick started asking me those questions when i announce my candidacy, because a) it provided a great platform for me to state my case and b) the nature of the question made Nick look like a doofus.
i never complained about the poll Nick started about me because a) the absurdity and bias of the question simply provdied more proof that Nick is a doofus.

Have I belittled you Pat? In any way similar to the way you belittled the PDGA Board and Volunteers prior to becoming a board member yourself? I have expressed doubts about you and your character, purposefully not taking sideways potshots at you (your favorite mode of operation).

Shouldn't that statement earn you a 24 hour suspension of your use of the message board? Less caused you to misuse your access to this board to ban me...
Which questions do you feel were inappropriate? I think I did a decent job of allowing you to provide your platitudes of wishful thinking. If someone had actually ran against you I have no doubt that you would have lost by a wide margin. But that is neither here nor there. I like everyone else is watching to see if you follow what you preached.

It really doesn't surprise me that you stoop to name calling with no real content towards the topic. Some things never change.
Congratulations on making it a month without quitting!

Webster's New Millennium Dictionary of English
Main Entry: dufus
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: an incompetent and stupid, though well-meaning, person;
if we are considering communication skills, the case for incompetence is assured.
dictionary.com has "annoying or irritating; troublesome: Turn off that stupid radio" as a definition of stupid. as long as someone considers Neon irritating or annoying (i stand on firm ground) the requirement to be both incompetent and stupid is met.
benefit of the doubt goes to Nick on the "well-meaning" part.
unless Nick is actually not "well-meaning", the use of the word doofus is validated by the definitions and fact. the word is neither obscene nor inflammatory, and no penalty would ever be assessed if it was uttered during sanctioned play.
therefore, a ban is not appropriate.

Frankly, I wish you all would just grow up and quit the juvenile name calling crap. Act like the adults you are, in positions within a "professional" organization, and set an example for the rest of the group to look toward for how to be a "professional". As a Professional musician of almost 30 years now, I can assure you, the kind of stuff going on here is NOT professional in any way.
So, why do I read it? Sort of like the person with a huge boil on their neck, you hate to look but it's so obnoxious you can't help it.

WORD!
Please do make note of one little aspect of this disc-ussion.
Lets assume for one moment that pre-BOD Pat, had an issue with how the organization is run. HELLO, HE HAS STEPPED UP AND BEEN ELECTED TO THE B.O.D. AND MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS ELECTED HIM TO THE POSITION. How admirable. He saw a problem and has elected to try an fix it. How many of you out there can say that for yourselves. Thanks Pat, do your best, and keep on keepin' on.
Always remember haters want to hate! Squash those haters!

Let's see who can hold out longer from jabbing at one another (Nick vs. Jeff)..
