this last election was unusual in that at the same time Members voted for Directors who would have specific responsibilities and duties they also voted to adopt a By-Laws that spreads these duties across the board members as the board sees fit.

i have no problem with the new approach at all. the question i have is how to deal with the new term that is about to start? how should duties be divided up?

specifically, would it be beneficial to propose that during the transition time, directors elected to a specific position will fulfill the responsibilities of that position? later, as new BoD members are elected under "open responsibility" guidelines, these duties can be delegated directly by the BoD.

thanks for any input...

i recommend getting Nick's input and then doing the opposite of whatever he proposes :p

seriously though, the various roles and responsibilities thereof should be outlined and then each BoD member should rank the roles they would be most interested in taking on as well as their experience in each respective area.

if everyone wants the same positions and there are some noone wants -- i guess you could always fall back on whatever each member was elected to do...

probably the first thing would be to meet and gauge what each BoD member feels is the appropriate way to divvy up the responsibilities to see if there is a natural consensus.

my two cents, for what it's worth ...

Pat, as a new Board member, have you been put into the loop and have you found out more information about the question you posed above?

also, why is the time at this site about 25 minutes slow?

i am signed up to the yahoo group the BoD uses, so i get any messages that flow thru that channel, yes. as far as the question i posed above, i have not heard anything from any BoD member about it, but i have not asked any BoD directly about it. i intend to bring it up at the meeting later this month.

about the clock, technical issues are under the control of Theo. my guess is that no one ever set the clock on the web server, or they do not have any sort of checker and the clocks slowly drifts off.
