Hey everyone, I just moved to Sacramento and don't know anything about the area, which of course includes stores and clubs that may be here.... I know how to find the courses but was wondering if anyone knew of any shops or clubs in the area. Thanks!

I was born and raised in Sacramento. I hope you like your summers hot and your winters right around freezing. Orangevale has a pro-shop on site, Final 9 Sports (http://www.final9sports.com/store/customer/). I believe it is run by Jim Oats, he also runs the St. Patricks tournament there. If you get a chance to travel a bit, come down to Santa Cruz and play De LaVeaga.

Orangevale is the most popular course in Sacramento with over 250 club members. Like Stan said Final 9 in at the course either talk to Bruce Jen or Jim. Rocklin is also another course just outside of Sac.

Man, I wish I'd of played disc golf when I lived in Ca. I played a course in Sac that was near a school a few years ago, can't remember the name. I did visit the Golf shop, it was pretty nice. Ranco Cordova could really use a course. I went to HS there and it's right there at the park/ American River. You could put a decent course there.

You must have played Orangevale. Awesome pro shop. Gotta love the course (when it's not totally packed), which it will be for the X-Mass Open. 20 6'ems on 18 holes on practically the shortest day of the year/2 rounds. That tourney is a l0t of fun. Bruce and Jim and their vols always do the job.

Welcome to Sac. final9sports.com is the place to be for a local, they have the majority of info on clubs, contacts and tourney's in the area and they are great people! There are many courses in NorCal to play! And many are no more than an 1 hours drive. Go Lancers Class '84!

I was class of 92. Did you go to school with any of the wilson Brothers? Andy and Gary. They were pretty darn good at wrestling.
There is also a course in Oroville, a few hrs north. It's right along the river, was pretty simple for the most part.

During High School I was mostly high! Cutting classes, getting loaded and fishing the American River is what I did @ Cordova. I managed to barely graduate. I did make a great decision a year later to join the Navy.

LOL, I should have been in your class. Man I miss that American River, so much fun. I did pretty much the same. I got kicked out of Cordova for fighting my senior yr, and moved north to a little town called Gridley, off Hwy 99. Then joined the Marines after I graduated.

you know i am down i loved it up there
my disc golf game suffered because all of the cool activities but i would love to play king of the lake or something like that
as far as a snow boarding trip i think i would rather go back to vail / bever creek
my bones are pretty stiff these days and the steep slopes may intice me to go big into the hospital

I'll be in Sacto for the Thanksgiving holiday and was wondering from the locals how crowded OV gets on Friday. Should I plan on going to Rocklin instead?

I got to Shady Oaks at about 9:00AM on Friday and was able to play a round and a half before calling it because of the crowd. The course was in pretty good shape. I must say that the Final 9 shop is really sweet. They had practically every disc currently being molded (Innova, Discraft, DGA, Millenium, Gateway, Latitude 64, Lightning and Snap) plus a good selection of accessories. They even had a selection of bite shoes in stock. I managed to pick up a couple of Z Hawks which have been practically impossible to pick up (except at horrendous prices on eBay). I really liked seeing the number of families and kids out playing. It's a good sign for the sport.

Anyone up for a round this week? I'm staying in Wheatland, just a short trip from Sac. I'd like to get in a round before noon one of these weekdays if possible. I'm having a family get together on Sat, so that day is out, then I'm heading back to TN on Sunday. My cell # is (405) 820-7492 if anyone would like to meet for a round. I would prefer Orangevale, but would also like to play in Rocklin, I've never seen that course.

Hi Cam

Try to get to Modesto, they have added 9 more sweet holes for a nice 27 total. it's not that far of a drive.
