What the hell does Astral projection have to do with sports? Seriously? The last I heard of this topic was in high school, where a guy we knew, who did way too many drugs, claimed he could astral project. He couldn't throw a frisbee worth a crap, so to put two and two together, I'd say that Astral projecting is very bad for your game. ;)

I could astrally project when I was in high school, but in college I took up foosball. Turned out that the two are fundamentally metaphysically incompatible and I was better at foosball. So I've stayed inside for the last 30 years.

The problem with astral projection is that it leaves nobody at home. This of course leaves the residance available for anyone or anything else that wishes to move in.
As for disc golfing and astral projection I have seen several players that I am pretty sure nobody was at home and I am pretty sure that my golf this weekend was soul less.

Astral projection is visualizing the flight of the disc through the air before it's thrown, right?
I will step up and vouch for this technique. I have played basketball for 15 years (Since I was 7), and when I was about 11 or 12 my dad told me about this to help my free throw shooting. Before I would shoot, I would see myself shooting, and the ball going in. My free throw percentage improved dramatically, I won 2 free throw shooting competitions in 3 years (Placing second in one), and my percentage spiked around 90%. To this day, even if I haven't played for a few weeks or even months, my free throws still always go in.
I would say that if you could incorporate this into your putting, where there is less movement and less room for error than any other shot, that you would see an improvement. It's all about confidence and having a positive state of mind.
...and Zen is not for weenies. Except Phil Jackson.

I was reading on this guy dr goldbloom site and they say to send white light in through your head and out your heart for protection. I like to imagine I can fly with the disc. some people have reported they can travel to the future and save thier own life. Imagine if you could do that with a missed putt. A women client of dr. goldblooms was going on vacation via airplane and she found out through astral travel that she was going to die on the flight to paris turns out the flight she would have been on crashed and killed 232 people and the crew. so im checking it out. cool stuff I am very interested

No that is just projection, a very useful tool in disc golf. Just feeling your body move through the motions and imagining the release and flight is supposed to be almost as effective as practicing your throw.
Astral Projection on the other hand.......

Astral projection is fun...Just don't stray too far from your physical body.

It could be astral projection if you were to watch yourself make the shot from another vantage point. You could stand in the basket (since you have no corporeal mass) and catch the disc after you putt it.

Even though you are incorporeal, you still feel it when you pass through solid objects or they pass through you. It is not a pleasant feeling. It's kind of like full body pins and needles. And avoid power lines of all kinds, even house current. That stings! :D
If you go anywhere interesting and they don't swear you to secrecy, tell us about it.

No, that is not astral projecting. Just a visualization technique.

Many years ago I read a book called "Journeys Out of the Body" dealing with out-of-body experiences. It even had instructions, which I tried, but alas, I was unsuccessful.
Fascinating reading, tho.

i think i read that -- it was by Robert Monroe if i remember correctly -- i lived next to the public library in 1976 and found that book there.
the body is a miracle and we're pretty much fused with/as it. therefore i don't worry too much about astral travel. astral disc golf on the other hand (pun unintended) is worthwhile if you are stuck at work and can't get a round in. i work at a distribution center and the aisles are like long narrow fairways. would be cool to throw some indestructible plastic in there... and astral discs of course are indestructible -- i have gotten quite good at 'throwing' them ;) :p

Wow, I do that every where I go. When I'm driving on a curvey road I imagine throwing a firebird anhyzer and following the flight path - crazy I know - but wow does it make life more interesting.
Thats the great thing about this sport, the addiction factor - it makes you see discs and fairways everywhere you go.

When I went to Modesto Junior College in 1975 I took a sociology class called "The Occult Tradition". It was taught by John Young, who, incidently, was the father of a Young that was part of the Toe Jammers freestyle team. They were very hot! Larry Imperiale was on the team.
Anyway, we were trained to do astral projections as part of the class. It was not required and considered dangerous, quote the teacher. I got into it and actually projected. It was pretty "70's". The mind is very strong and capable of some cool stuff. I went somewhere that night! It was very memorable!
