So here's the thought process...

I know of local clubs that have year long Ace King competitions. The idea is that the person with the most aces over the course of the year wins the pot ($10 a person to play). There are particulars like minimum distance, witnesses, and finishing the round, for example.

My question is this: has anyone ever tried to do an Ace King competition for the nation? I realize that a lot of this would be on the honor system, and it would probably be best to confirm all aces with the witness, but, given that more people would be involved you could lower the entry to a couple of dollars and more people would probably get involved.

I just think that it is an interesting idea and would like some feedback on what other players think, or if this has been done before.... so let me know!

edit: Another possibility would be to only count PDGA tournament aces. This would make it more like a year long ace pool.

Nobody would ever beat Cubby. He had 111 aces in 2006.

Yeah, I got to thinking about people just playing a grand amount and how that could skew numbers. That's part of the reason why I thought that such a competition might be better to only include PDGA tournament rounds. It would be like paying to be in the ace pool for every tournament you entered that year, except you would only pay once.

Of course, you could still play in the individual ace pots, too.

Is this anything like the nationwide Ace Race?

Well, currently it's nothing, just an idea in my head.

No, it would not really be like the ace race, but more like an ace pool for all PDGA tournaments that lasts all year.

Why would we want to make Chris Hysell richer year after year?

Unless it's tournament aces, then it would probably be Sjur Soleng.

I am pretty sure that Cubby is just a cardboard cutout. How does a cardboard cutout get aces?
