At the Memorial I assume?

When and where?

Nope. I think it's just prior to the Hall of Fame Classic NT April 21 at the Grand Opening of our IDGC HQ building.

Matt,

The spring summit is currently scheduled for Wednesday, April 18 and Thursday, April 19 at the PDGA International Disc Golf Center in Columbia County, GA. The 3-day Disc Golf Hall of Fame Classic will be a Pro National Tour and Am SuperTour Event. We will be playing the Headrick Memorial Course (Blue level) and the Innova/Houck South Course (Gold level). The Grand opening and dedication of the new IDGC Headquarters building, including the Headrick Museum, will take place on Saturday, April 21st.

We invite all PDGA members to join us for this historical event!

Regards,
Brian Graham

Will the HOF Classic have Am divisions? Currently the tournament schedule on the web site only shows the Pro event.

Maybe I'll show up to check out my tee pad or bench... :D

Brian posted above you that it would be an AM Supertour. Either they haven't gotten the website updated to show it, or they may be waiting to make sure there will be two playable courses at the IDGC before taking AM registrations.

Brian's post is what prompted my question. I hadn't thought about the "two playable courses" angle - that would make it difficult to handle more players.

I just returned from a meeting with PDGA and Columbia County officials at the IDGC and it looks like we should have no problem having both the Ed Headrick Memorial course and the Innova South course ready for play by April. The contractor has nearly completed stump removal and final clearing on the Headrick Course and will begin working on the South course sometime next week, followed by the Discraft East course. Once he completes his contract, we can get in there and begin the fine tuning and tee pad installation in preparation for the tournament.

The Hall of Fame Classic will take place over the three days of April 20-22, 2007 and will be a Pro NT and Am SuperTour. As it stands now, all divisions will play one round a day for three days, with tee times. Pro's will play the Innova South course twice and the Headrick Course once. Am's will play the Headrick Course twice and the South Course once. The tee times for round 2 on Saturday will begin a little later to allow time for the IDGC dedication and grand opening festivities to take place that morning. I hope to have the HOF Classic website up and running before the end of the month.

The IDGC headquarters building is coming along nicely. The interior walls have now been sheetrocked and they are beginning work on the front porch, wheelchair ramp and rear deck. The building and new covered pavilion, are both sheduled for completion at the end of February.

Everyone mark your calendars and make your plans to join us for this historical occassion. In addition tho the IDGC festivities, we look forward to hosting the PDGA Board for their spring summit and honoring all of the distinguished members of the Disc Golf Hall of Fame.

On an unrelated but very encouraging note, I was told that the PDGA memberships office had their busiest week in the history of the association last week, processing nearly 1,000 memberships. I can't tell you how lucky we are to have such a dedicated and hard working staff working on our behalf. Thanks PDGA!

Regards,
Brian Graham

I'm gonna see if I can make it - I'd like to be there to see a bunch of old friends. Hang on to that Shuttle Puppy for me! BTW, I'm sponsoring either a tee pad or a bench on the Headrick course - don't know which one yet. Do you have a suggestion of one that would be fitting?

Best wishes to all involved in the PDGA Summit going on today and tomorrow. Based on the meeting agenda posted a few days ago, its easy to see that there's a lot going on at the PDGA, and that despite all the noise made on this board by a small minority, things are taking flight for disc golf.

I hope you all survive the doubles rounds!

Just got off the phone with Jack Lowe, who's in Augusta (well, Columbia County anyway). Kansas City has just been awarded the 2009 PDGA Pro-Am Worlds. We expect to see all of you here in KC in August 2009, and you will have a good time!

Hey, and MTL...you can pass the road sign in your avatar on the way. It's about an hour east of KC on I-70. :) (Although it's actually Exit 66, not Exit 69) :D

Why back to back years of both pro and ams being held at the same place. I thought it was kind of a cool idea the way that it been happening that way every four years. Doesn't matter though just kind of curious.

No Pro Worlds bidder for 2009 had come forth.

That leads in so many different directions that I don't know which way to go with it.

We had already done 2 Am Worlds, and decided if we were ever going to do a Pro Worlds, we'd want to do a combined Worlds. We thought (briefly) about doing both in 2003, but decided against it at that time. We have more courses now than we did then.

There has never been a plan for a 4 year cycle for combined Worlds, it's just worked out that way. Des Moines originally bid only to do Pro Worlds in 2004, but graciously agreed to host Am Worlds as well after there were no Am Worlds bidders that year, and Des Moines did a fantastic job with it.

I really like a combined Pro Am worlds. It allows the ams to hang with the pros. There is nothing more positively reinforcing than having all divisions in one place. You can win your Junior World Championship and stand on the same stage as the World Champion. That's sweet. Plus, it gets ALL of the flymart folks in one place instead of having to choose one or the other. 2004 Flymart was enormous, they may need to run the 2009 flymart at the convention center.
