Is is true that if you MA2 in PDGA tounaments that you wont get an invite to AM Worlds?

No,

It is all based on points. Any amatuer with enough points gets in.

However, players recieve less points per player beat in intermediate than they do in advanced divisions.

Probably will get an automatic invite. Even if you have to get on the waitlist....you will more than likely get an invite. To date, all waitlist players have recieved an invite. No World Championship tournament has ever filled

In depends on your state and how many points other people have etc etc etc.

But liek the previous post said, no one gets turned away from Am worlds.

No Am Worlds. PW2006 filled at Augusta with several people not getting in. However, it was also a lower cap than ever before. I believe some specific Am & Pro Worlds divisions, usually the older ones have capped out such that the only way to play would have been to enter a younger division.

You're #3 on the Utah points list. You'll get an invite.

Yes, I should have clarified. Given he's MA2, I assumed Am Worlds.

How do you find this information? I'd like to see where I sit on the list.

Look up by state and division:
www.pdga.com/points.php (http://www.pdga.com/points.php)

There's no fixed formula for invites because it depends on your division and state. In general the top 25% in a division based on points will get invited. I believe most women and juniors get invited. Invites will get tougher each year as the PDGA Am ranks continue to grow and the venue can only handle so many players or will be limited to so many players.

All points earned in Am divisions are Am points and get totaled together to determine invites. It's just that playing in higher level Am divisions usually earns more points per event so it's harder to get an invite if all you play is MA2.

Chuck,

When will the invites be sent out? Are they sent by snail mail or email. I was also wondering about Am Nationals.

Invitees will be posted online sometime in mid-February once all of the 2006 TD reports are finally received, hopefully in the next few weeks. I believe the invite packets for both Worlds will be sent out by email sometime in March if the PDGA has a valid email address. If the email comes back as dead or you don't have one, then those members will get snail mail invites.

No idea about Am Nats. Obviously, their timetable for getting things done has moved up this year with the event in June instead of Septmeber.
