I am a newish PDGA member and I was wondering what the organization does in my state. Does the PDGA buy baskets for courses? Do they subsidize tournaments? Does money raised for the PDGA locally leave the state on a one-way trip?

The primary thing the PDGA does locally is return benefits to individual members with the magazine, ratings, points, this Discussion Board, and in essence, a $5 discount at each PDGA event you enter locally or anywhere.
Only a small portion of your member fee goes for worldwide initiatives. Most of the discs and baskets you use have been tested and approved by the PDGA. The courses have hopefully been designed following PDGA guidelines. If not, your Park Dept can turn to the PDGA for help in this area. Having a national presence for the sport provides comfort for Park Depts who may be reluctant to install a course when it doesn't seem like a legitimate "sport".
Some of your member dollars go to help support PDGA major event staffing. This is available to your state but local people have to step up to host with PDGA assistance. The amount of economic support a community receives from hosting just one of these events goes way beyond the dues paid by all members of a state for many years.
Baskets are provided free to educational institutions thru grants from the PDGA Education Foundation. The PDGA also supports the EDGE program which is available to all educational institutions for developing disc skills in youth.

I know in Durham, NC they're trying to get a new course installed and many high school teachers are on board with the idea. We are attempting the same here in Boulder, CO, also with the support of some teachers. I've heard of a basket matching program (e.g., we buy 9, we get 9) through the PDGA or EDGE or Innova (not sure which, and haven't been able to find any info on such a program? ahhh, rumors...). Would this apply in such a situation where we're trying to install a course that would be on Parks & Rec grounds but also used for high school education?
