Okay Oz made one of his sporadic appearances today (I still need to go back and explain the PGA Senior Tour to him but I've been busy) and pontificated about what membership and tourney fees get spent on. The question is, are they spending the money on stuff you want, like, support etc. Below are the programs Oz detailed. I've set this up to let each voter pick up to five though I hate polls with multiple options.

This is a really bogus poll. Disc Golf in general needs the PDGA to do all those and more to keep the sport growing.
I agree few of those are a direct benefit specifically to a member but not to a non-member, but that's beside the point.
What you need is a poll that says, "I want the PDGA to do these 5 things that it currently does not. Which would you like the PDGA to do?" And let people select up to 5. At which point, you'll see what is and is not determined by folks visiting the boards to be worthwhile to them.
If you get some feedback, report that to the BoD.
If you don't get the response you want, then you need to run for office and make those recommendations in person.
Should they be rejected then, I believe at that point you can say screw it, I'll go found my own disc golf organization.
Or you could just accept that you're in a minority concerning some of your disc golf membership needs.
Do love the posts though - they certainly rally some responses. It appears you have quite a passion for the sport.

But of course a sheep like me supports pretty much every item on the list. As a matter of fact, I support it as an Ace club member every year.
I wonder, are we going to get 10 year Ace Club bag tags ?

A poll like this can be useful...
We look at the existing items, we pick the ones we support. Simple.
Now say the PDGA was thinking about cutting an item from the list (they probably aren't, but we're pretending here)... they could look at what was supported and what wasn't and use that to make a choice, potentially.
And no poll on the message boards is going to be accurate, of course... but aren't they fun!
Edit: How about a poll of those same items, but we vote for up to 5 that we think should not be supported with member money?

Do you think there are items on the list that should not be there?

I think all the items are beneficial: some for members, some for the overall promotion of the sport.

I don't get worked up, and history has shown that ignoring him won't make him go away.
I would much rather see the opposite poll. I think it ultimately would be of more use. If not to change where money is being spent, to hilight the areas where the membership doesn't see the full benefits of the programs.

Daniel,
I could have shaped it that way, but I didn't want to be perceived as being negative implying that there was anything wrong with any of these expenditures.

Suzette,
My point here goes back to professional sport vs. world's biggest disc golf club. Most of us right thinking players (and to his credit The Apologist) know that this isn't a professional sport, and that what we have here is the world's biggest disc golf club. Now would you want your local club spending money on some of this stuff? I don't know, and offered this up simply for everyone to express their support or lack of for each item. If it turns out that the majority aren't that intersted in the propaganda aspects maybe the members fees should be directed to more direct benefits. I for one think a lot of the propaganda effort is wasted as the reality of a tourney/the sport etc. never matches up to the shiny packaging.
