is the key word "bid"? if so, i couldnt agree more. encouraging competition for these services will grow the sport for the long term in a fair manner. we will benefit more from market forces and darwinism than from propping up an oligopoly or cartel of insiders.

But you didn't 'bid', you just took out a windmill without having an alternative in mind, Quixote. If you were to do it right, and if you determined that looking at the magazine was a pressing issue that needed immediate attention, you would have started an RFP process to solicit bids for the magazine with specs as the Board determined to be important. Instead, blind bias against the previous BOD leaders and the decisions that preceded you has resulted in a knee-jerk reaction that may have just killed the resource, not replaced it. Your description of the arrangement as an "oligopoly or cartel of insiders" just reinforces how strong this bias is.

It has possibly been suggested that the PDGA is not careful enough in how it selects organizations and individuals to carry out various skilled tasks. In light of this, the PDGA is implementing a bidding process for some key positions and activities.

The PDGA is putting out a bid to replace Chuck as it's main apologist. It's cheap, you don't get paid, but you get your derriere handed to you daily on the MB. Statistic skills a must. Please submit your bid by March 15th to the PDGA at [email protected]

The PDGA will select the winning bid by April 1, 2007. The winner will get full posting privledges, as long as they maintain their membership and a civil tongue [or at least keep their tongue in their cheek].

Okay, I'll do it. I already listen to people yell, complain, and whine all day long as my job as child support officer.
I have a teething baby that is fussy all evening and occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night.
My husband stays home with him, so he is sometimes cranky when I get home.
I visit the MB to get away from it, then find people here doing it. They may as well direct it at me too.
See how long I can handle it.
I think I can handle being the official PDGA Apologist. As a member, I do not feel the organization has done anything wrong. I feel they are doing the best they can.
I've been looking for the position in which I can be of the most help for the PDGA. I will be happy to take on this endeavor, if the current office holder is ready to give it up.

BTW, it seems people on the mb often times are more whiny, fussy, and complain more about nothing than a teething baby, the father that deals with him all day, or all the people I deal with all day.

I will put my bid in too.

I have a wife (16 years now, must be doing something right)
i have 2 boys (12 and 5, the 12 year old whines more than the 5)
I employ teenagers. This might be my biggest plus. They think I should pay them just to show up. They never want to do the work that needs to be done to increase business, they just want to talk about the latest greatest movie or band.

ring ring...
Ahh, what is that..... the phone??? on no, we will have to stop our conversation and make an order.

Plus, I have this chip in my head that tells me the PDGA can do no wrong :D

BTW - the official procedure here is that on March 16th a poll will be set up on the Other Thread that will include each bidder. The winner, as determined by the poll will receive an official PDGA polo shirt. Now, I have sent in a request for a special polo shirt for this position but that request may not be accepted. If not, I will deliver a standard PDGA polo. So get your bids in now!

BTW - Laura, Za, you may want to enhance your bids as good as they are!

I am going to put in my bid. I am teacher and get to listen to students, parents, and administration complain. I have to convince 30 11-14 year olds who biggest concern is which game system to buy that math will be important to them.
Plus if you follow the chain of command all the way to the top, technically none other than the most successful C student of all time George W. Bush is the person that is making decisions on Education. I mean come on don't ever trust someone who is the only person laughing at their own jokes.

Also after coaching middle school football I am used to working for under $2 an hour.

Plus my philosophy when people start playing the blame game as far as who did what. I always respond if you have to have someone to blame, you can blame me, I will sleep fine tonight.

Finally the PDGA assures me that the chip implanted is taking nicely. And I have to admit I have been seeing things a lot more clearly since the procedure.

Hi there.

Sammy is definitely good but we need a little more information on why you'd be a good apologist!

Having to deal with the consequences of No Child Left Behind is definitely a bonus for anyone pursuing a career as an apologist! The buck stops here, I like that!
