I just wanted to let all PDGA members know that we are hosting work days at the International Disc Golf Center every Saturday morning beginning at 9:00am and that we are appealing to members and regional disc golf clubs for help in fine tuning the courses for the grand opening on April 20.

A few weeks ago, several members of the Mid Ohio Organized Disc Golf club visited the IDGC for 4 days to volunteer their time working on the courses. The Upstate Disc Golf Club (Greenville, SC) brought 12 members down yesterday and the Augusta Disc Golf Association is out there every Saturday.

The clearing contractor has completed tree removal on the courses but there are a lot of sticks, logs, branches, etc. left on the fairways that need to be removed. The work we do is not very strenuous and mainly consists of walking the fairways and picking up this small debris and throwing it off of the fairways. The Headrick Memorial course has been completed in this regard and we are now working on the Innova/Houck south course.

We usually work for about 4 or 5 hours and then take a break at the PDGA offices where a free lunch is provided for all volunteers. After lunch, we play a round of golf on the Headrick Memoral course.

We meet every Saturday morning at 9:00am in the clearing next to the new headquarters building. We hope that everyone who can, will consider making the short trip to the IDGC to volunteer some time in the next couple of weeks. For details and/or additional information, contact Addie Isbell at the PDGA office (706) 261-6342.

Regards,
Brian Graham

Hi Brian,

I will bring this up in our club meeting on Wednesday. We have been sort of shut down in our course work by the Parks Department as we negotiate a contract and work out insurance issues that they are forcing on us (expensive!!).

I have a feeling there are many in our club jonesing for a workday....and a road trip. :) Maybe we can get you 20 or so warm bodies.

We might appeal for a later start time  since it is about a 2.5-3 hour drive.
