Hey Homies go check out the thread in PDGA Topics named Expert AM Division = Cancer and VOTE!!!!!
This is a REAL thing that may happen with the PDGA adding a EXPERT division between Adv and Open

Maceman does a match play event once a year where you are guaranteed three 6 hole matches on Saturday, winners advance to Sunday. I need to read his rules on it to see if it makes any sense.

kmack what do you think about the pdga moving up the masters age to around 50. seems like there are a lot of VERY GOOD golfers over 40 that are more than capable of playing and winning in the open division. that would give the pro field a boost as well

Will there be an expert division? Not that it matters for me.

Yes there will be an OPEN and AMATEUR bracket. I think Pro entry fee costs a little more to play but it won't be much. It will be an affordable, fun and fair tournament for all! I'm working on some of the details right now.
Below are some basic rules and info on Match Play:
Match Play Scoring
How Matches are Scored at Match Play
At root, match play scoring is very simple: Golfers compete hole by hole, and the golfer who wins the most holes wins the match. But match play competitions can create some scores that novices might not be familiar with, scores that may look odd or use terminology unfamiliar to beginners.
Basics of Match Play
Scorekeeping
Simple: Win a hole, that's one for you; lose a hole, that's one for your opponent. Ties essentially don't count; they aren't kept track of in the scorekeeping. The score of a match play match is rendered relationally. Here's what we mean: Let's say you've won 5 holes and your opponent has won 4. The score is not shown as 5 to 4; rather, it's rendered as 1-up for you, or 1-down for your opponent. If you have won 6 holes and your opponent 3, then you are leading 3-up, and your opponent is trailing 3-down. Essentially, match play scoring tells golfers and spectators not how many holes each golfer has won, but how many more holes than his opponent the golfer in the lead has won. If the match is tied, it is said to be "all square." Match play matches do not have to go the full 18 holes. They often do, but just as frequently one player will achieve an unsurmountable lead and the match will end early. Say you reach a score of 6-up with 5 holes to play - you've clinched the victory, and the match is over.

It would solve alot of problems but it was VERY VERY difficult to move that line to 40...50 would be almost impossible, even though that's where it should be

Match PLay is a great time and levals the playing field a bit.
It does that by removing total score. Ex. if you take a 7 on a hole and your opponent takes a 3.....then you only lose one hole instaed of 4 strokes. :D

I have a suggestion:
Have the groups be Foursomes:
Player A vs Player B & Player C vs Player D for 9 holes and then the winners will play each other and the losers will play each other for 9 holes. It takes care of two rounds at once, and you don't have to mix the cards again.
If we play 18 hole matches and double elimination it may take 10-12 rounds to complete. When it is down to 4 players then have the finals be 18 hole rounds

Hey - if you are playing double elimination match play, I have a spreadsheet that generates the brackets for you. We are playing a big double-elimination tournament this weeked. email me and I will send it along to whoever wants it. dave @ marchant.com

That's a good idea...I presented the idea to c-dub about 9 hole matches, but he wants to do an 18 hole match which is cool. I think we should base the match play format off of the total number of players that show up. If we have a low number of players we should go 18 hole match. If the attendance is good than it should be 9 hole matches under the format Kev mentioned.

Since this is the first go at it we figured we should keep it affordable. $10 for an AM to play is only $2 more than a normal weekend mini.
Plus all you bagging AM2 guys [you know who you are] can have a shot at competing head on with Kevin "K-Mack Cubby Lover" McCoy. You can tell your friends how you took doen a 1017 rated player :o
It's match play BABY!

The future of Tulsa disc golf is in very good hands....Taylor is going to be a very good golfer, he surprised me! I had no idea he could be that good. Little Bougher, Devan, Wagle all going to be able to carry the T-Town torch of great disc golfers in the future.
I'm glad Taylor beat the Dude after Devan was talking that mad trash to him before they played each other. It was grueling weekend, and I only had to play 5 rounds at Blackhawk.
The final match was awesome...lots of great play throughout the match. It was cool to see the Rec's Bryan and Thong Le battling in extra holes. Got to see Thong Le sack up and hit a bomb on #17 the 21 hole of the match to keep the match going.
Thanks Wagle and MC! Make sure you don't miss future match play events. It looks like they will be coming up with a little easier format in the future so more and more players can enjoy this fun format.

... and , yes indeed : he is going to be a Top-Pro ...

i think randy forsander should also be added to that list. i always have to remind myself that he is only 15! Also, greg winsworth is also a guy that has a lot of potential. he can throw around 500, and if he gets his short game down he could do some damage to a course.

So if a Amateur like me had played I would have won in that class? Or would I have just gotten my entry fee back? lol
