Since Kevin likes to start threads to drum up support for his Semi-Pro Division, I have started a thread to gauge support for a compromise to the Expert VS Semi-Pro divisions.
I hope everyone agrees that you can't ever force a player to go pro. That they should always have the option to remain an Am for Life. Next, I would ask everyone to agree that under the current ratings breaks for Ams that it is not fair for a 915 player to be thrown into a division with 965 rated players. Remember, he is forced, it is not his choice to play Advanced.
So, if you agree with the first two questions, would changing the ratings breaks and adding a division at the bottom of the Am ranks solve this problem? It would be implemented across the board at all PDGA events. It would not destroy the Open pool and it would not create a new division between Am and Pro.
