The info on the website goes back to '82, was that the first World Championship?

Yes, at least in terms of PDGA. There were World titles that were disc golf specific before then but were usually as part of an event with multiple disc sports included. I think maybe the AFDO in 1974 in Rochester was the first big one that might be considered the first World level championship but not called that. Check this history on the WFDF site:

So if one wanted to tie the 26th annual Disc Golf World Championships to 2008, it would not be out of the question.

27th. This year is the 26th. If KC wins his 13th this year, he would have won half of the World Open titles ever contested.

KC is in the beyond-Gretzky zone...with ALL due respect to The Great One, of course! Has there been a more dominant athlete in any other sport? Perhaps...but not likely.

In 1997, KC had won half of the Open World titles for the first time. He continued to have won at least half of them until 2004 when Schultz won his second title. Perhaps for KC, his 13th will be the lucky one to get back on the half track.

Don't hear a lot of world champs denigrating world titles. Ah, the scent of "sour grapes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sour_grapes)"?
