Spent some time at the LoDgE this weekend and things are coming together quite nicely for the Twisted Flyer Open....Jim has big plans for the TFO....LIVE music for Friday and Saturday night. Sweet CAMPING areas with showers and toliets for everyone....There will be a cart girl(s) bringing refreshments. PLUS plenty more good times.

The mud has all dried up and the grass is growing great in some spots but fair in other spots. I'm not sure we will have the tee pads done by the event, but it's good hard earth that we will be teeing off of.

Here are some pics of the Island...The grass is all grown in and the bridge is almost complete as you can see in the pic...now that the tees are flat the hole played SO MUCH easier today then when a couple of us played it in the mud.

IT'S GONNA BE A GREAT ONE! DON'T MISS IT!!!!

The golf course is coming along very well...the grass is cut and the baskets will be going in within the week.

CAMPING is gonna be awesome....Even if it is hot...Jim is building showers for everyone to beat the heat, and clean the grime off of ya after the rounds.

Jim and Deb's son is a chef in Scottsdale, Arizona and is flying in to cook. There will be breakfast buffet as well as a dinner buffet Saturday and Sunday of the event.

As Kevin said... There is $800.00 added cash with another 250.00 coming in by game day to throw at you Pro Players...

The AM Players pack is PHAT! But when is it not at a Twisted event??? Retail value is currently at 22.00...

There is a FREE CTP for EVERYONE on the ISLAND Hole that consists of a 2007 USDGC Roc, a piece of USDGC Clothing, a CFR Disc and a goodie from Innova...

There will be the normal Twisted Ring of Fire which usually puts another 200.00 to 400.00 worth of goods into the players hands...

It is the innaugural event at the LODGA... You can be the first measured group ever on Kev's best design ever. YOUR ENTRY INCLUDES YOUR $5.00 PER DAY GREEN FEES...

And of course if no one hits an ACE (Kev says there will be 4) we get to throw off for that money as well.

Everyone that knows me, knows that I am very vocal about what I like and don't like. First off I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING I DID NOT LIKE, just to get that out of the way.

Normally I would type for 30 minutes about a great day golfing, great hosts, best TRACK in OKLAHOMA, the jeep round and times with some of my best friends... It would fill a page for sure.......

But I choose not to tonight. Simply because it WAS SO MUCH FUN I DON'T WANT TO SHARE IT UNTIL I HAVE TO.

KEVIN... Great design, Great work and I can't say enough how PROUD I am to have you and Court on the team.

No hype... real feelings. It was that cool.

Much more manyana...

The bar has been set to "Osage Style".

BTW if you know my posts you know I like Smileys and I use them tons... tonight NONE of them applied. I was never that question mark dude ever... and MY smile was bigger than any of the happy ones!!!

Thanks Again Jim, Debbie, k-MACK and DA for a great day.

This course makes me re-think about driving to Horseshore. 4 hour drive vs. 40 minutes.

With Jim's hospitality its hard to beat. :D

And you missed the round with the Jeep Golf Cart with the cooler full of beers ;) Jim and Deb are great people....I have been going up for a few months and they have always treated me so great up there. This is going to be one of the places I miss the most when we head to GA.

There are scores posted and something to shoot for, so far the best scores are

Blues 50
Whites 46

Wheeeew Weeee... My dogs are sore today. Can't imagine that second round without the jeep golf cart! Kevin you did a great job on that track for SURE.

Ok kiddo's here it is... Besides the normal PHATness of a Twisted Flyer event you can expect...

An on site massage station

ONE or TWO Live Bands

Disc Golf Challenge on Saturday Night

A MOBILE GALLERY... YEP BLEACHERS BEING PULLED AROUND THE COURSE FOR THE FINAL NINE.

New Showers

Great FOOD

GREAT PEOPLE

and few things I just refuse to let out yet.

The LODGE is awesome as it is now... Once the grass fully grows in and the track gets worn in it will be hands down the best course in OKLAHOMA. Don't miss out on your chance to be there. Nothing I can type here can accurately portray what they have going on down at the lodge.

BTW although I saw MANY discs go in the water on the Island hole... NONE of them were mine! :DI can't wait for this weekend.

ninafofitre

I'm not a big fan of blind shots. I like to be able to move to the left or right of the teebox and see the basket.

Hole #2 from the blues is a bad arse tee shot.

You can see it from hole 4. :D

eupher61
Aug 27 2007, 06:29 PM
I didn't really try, but also didn't look that hard, at #3...can it be cut short right, a big ol' anny directly to the basket?

m_conners
Aug 27 2007, 06:31 PM
The anhyzer is there for sure. I thew a thumber so I would know where it landed. If you throw a big anhyzer you might find yourself looking for discs for a while.

ninafofitre
Aug 28 2007, 09:37 AM
There is still gonna be some more work on #3...I would also like to be able to see the basket from the white tee...That hole has required the most work so far....There were a lot of rocks in that fairway.

The hole is a dog-leg right....Your supposed to go straight to the tree in the fairway and then turn right...Over the trees should cost you a lost disc because that is not how the hole was intended to be played

Nope, All tees will be used this weekend...The reds are similar to Chandler 4200+feet, the whites play a lot like McClure 5400+feet and the blues 7200+ feet plays a little easier than Blackhawk.

I am pretty sure Recs, Int, am Ladies will play the first round from the reds and then the rest of the rounds from the whites. Adv, Open will play first round from the whites and the rest from the blues.

On a side note, who would have thought DIG could have passed a FST on the way home? Not me! Yet, I'm home. :p

Great tournament at a fantastic facility. Can't wait till next year when that course will be tip top.

Way to get the scores posted promptly. It's a surefire way to cut down on the complaining.

OK Guys, now is the time for all TD's that were at the lodge to think about what further events can be held there. think fast and get some ideas together while the bloom is still on the roses.
I think a fall event at leaf turning time would be great even if it were a one day with an evening of camping. Lets keep the Taylor's active and the improvemnets will just keep on comming.

We are already on it. Jim and Deb were impressed with us overall and we are in the works to do some NON Sanctioned and SANCTIONED events there in the future. Be looking for good things at the Lodge in the near future.

Thanks to everyone that made the trip to be there.

More to follow after my day off :D

Jim, Deb and The Lodge crew--Thank You! You made an Arky feel right at home and I can't wait to make it back over and bring the wife. WOW just doesn't translate as well as it should.

Mr. Rotan and all of your Twisted crew -- Most excellent tourney. Some strange reason I seem to always play a little better once I get all Twisted up. Great players pack, smooth as silk tourney, killer payout and more value than any man can ask for. Horseshoe isn't gonna know what hit it, but you can bet it's gonna be Twisted. If I only win one, at least it was the Twisted1s' ! Keep it cool brother and tell Fernando thanks for the help in the search for my "Putting Chi", I know it's out there at The Lodge somewhere. Sweet, I'm outta here!

Wow words cannot describe enough what a great time it was out there this weekend. The staff and other peeps behind the scene made this weekend go off without a hitch. I don't even know where to begin except to say you should've been there if not you were missing out. Honestly anyone who gets a chance needs to go check out the course and the hospitality of the Lodge Staff will blow you away!

On a side note it was very impressive to see one of the staff members come out during the middle of one our rounds to fix some tangled chains and not wait til the end of the round. Course maintenance at its best!

Thanks again to all that made this great weekend possible looking forward to another one for sure~!

Also it was great to get a chance to hang out at night with such a great group of people you know who you are ;). Just to many to name and would feel bad if I left someone at.

Thanks again to TFO staff and Lodge staff for such a great event and time! If you missed out this year it was your loss! :D

 a Grade-A course nestled in-the-hills and right-around-the-corner from Tulsa these Courses ( 3 Tee positions ) are a must-see , must-play , must-enjoy
.
The Twisted Flyer went very well out there McCoy had the Course design all layed out for success then along came Rotan , who surrounded himself with the good folks (Treat,Barton,Treat,Townsend,Vargas, etc.) to run it well kept it all smooth
.
and to one of the friendliest guys youll meet > Jim Taylor ; owner and chief-tractor-driver , thank ya , thank ya , thank ya as well as his wife Debbie and all of his crew who kept the water-jugs-filled and the-food-cookin all-the-while they got to watch and observe this Sport in tournament-form of competition and I think they were entertained and impressed as well
.
and as a side-note , well have to get Jim himself hooked on playing and enjoying disc-golf hes already got that great laid-back attitude and that smile
.
he would fit well in GrandMasters ;)

Good people, good times, good course...I had a ton of fun even while shooting bad golf.

The only hickup we had (last card) was having to end on hole 3 for the last two rounds. Waiting almost 40 minutes to tee off on your last hole is really silly. I think a full time spotter might help the pace of play on 3. Also, for some reason the tractor ride never seemed to be around when I was on my way to and from the course, bad timing I guess. I'll be back sometime this year with the wife and dog and possibly a golf cart.

Peace.

Just got an email from Jim Taylor from the Lodge,

Kev,

Please post a note on the DISCussion board for us. Tell everyone that came to our inaugural event that as nice as all of their comments are, Deb and I are even more impressed with the classy way this crew presents itself. We walked around the course and through the campgrounds after everyone had left and repeatedly commented to each other what a great (and neat) bunch of people. Our cudos to Twisted Joe and his crew for a tournament so finely tuned, we were very impressed. Also, Debbie, Leah, Jeremy, Lindsay, Stephen, Shawn and I all were very impressed by the comraderie and friendly environment that was represented by this group. I don't think we could have hand picked a better bunch of people to represent the sport. We were so impressed that we want to become an active
part of the disc golf community. At many native events, a phrase that is spoken often and with reverance is "My People". It often refers to extended family and has heart felt meaning of affection and respect, please let everyone know, I count myself very fortunate to have made so many great friends this weekend and truly I consider each and every one "My People".

JT

I want to add on and say thanks to everyone on being respectful and neat also!!!

Well better late then never, my computer was screwed up pretty much all week. I just want to echo what everyone else has already said about the TFO at The Lodge. Jim, Deb & family are some of the nicest most welcoming people I have ever met. And Joe Rotan is a machine!! That was probably the best tournament I have ever played in. I can't wait until the next event at The Lodge. If you missed this one, you definately need to make the next one because it's a special one for sure!! Thanks again to Joe, Jim, Deb and all who helped out with this one, and thanks for the kind words about the national anthem, I had a BLAST!!! See yall next time.
