Mike was playing on the card in front of us. I just happened to see his drive and his fall. At first I thought it was just antics of a bad shot, then he didn't get up and the other players started yelling. I hurried over to check on him, He was laying just in front of the tee box, I asked, "what the hell Happened?" He said, "it's broke, it sounded like a disc hitting the tree." :o
"****", I said, "is there anything I can do?"
Mike remained very calm and told me to just let him lay there.
So, my next question just had to be "Do you mind if we play through?" :D
At least I got a smile out of him.
Good luck Mike, heal up fast. ;)
Then to top off all of that, young Treat "OPIE", drives the car around to follow the amblulance out. I notice Mike's bag still on the ground, so I hollar at OPIE and he gets out of the car to get it.........BUT...........leaves the car running with the doors locked, on the side of the highway. Well, after I got my laughing under control, along with the fire department, they called the Sperry police back out and they were still working on it by the time the mini was over.
I just hope OPIE still isn't out on the highway.

Get well soon my friend. Don't be shy with the pain meds......can only imagine how bad that felt.
You will be back in no time....might be good time to develop a good stand still forehand shot for a while.
Give's new meaning to the SNAP disc golf video....If we only knew that this was going to happen we could have had your own MTV Scarred video. RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR DAYS OFF FROM THE J. O. B!

I agree with Kev - Disc Golf is great rehab activity once you can get around! It's what helped me recover from my leg injury....

... have them install a " laser-device-direction-finder-and-global-measurement-with-optional-wind-direction-and-speed-with-barometric-pressure-sensors " in one of your new "bionic-toes" ... I think(?) they can also install a "mosquito-and-tick-repellent-spray-nozzle" in one of your pinkie-toes ...

WOW!!
Maybe this should get some air play, if you can break bones playing disc golf it must be a sport and not just hippies throwing a frisbee in the park!
hope they use good quality plates and screws to put you back together again.
But no fair practicing a forehand shot that is the only gimmick i have that most others don't!
Get well soon hope you can keep the recovery time down to the 6 to 8 week range!

If they couldn't fix it, I have some duct tape. Duct tape will fix anything ;)

My surgery is Thursday at 7:00 am
The surgeon said it was a good break, as far as they go.
The pain is manageable if I keep the meds flowing. So far so good.
Am I the only one to sustain a major injury playing Disc Golf???
It would make me feel better if somone has a few stories of others injuries..
Maybe I am the only PDGA player to be this uncoordinated :(

I did hear of a guy that fell walking up a hill and stuck a stick through his shoulder.
I have heard of some pretty nasty eye injuries.
I saw a broken nose at Duncan.
But you are the first I have seen taken away by ambulance. :D

Actually, Jake tried to stop some 2nd graders from stealing one of the baskets and they beat him up. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif....Although he deserves an honorable mention for trying to protect the course, he did not earn his injury in the heat of battle against fellow disc golfers. ;)

Dammitt Mike thats a real bummer, did you slip off the front end of the tee box and turn it or was it a slip off the side? I've thought about that before, some of these tee boxes have a 4-6 inch drop off from every angle.
I pray the surgery will go well and you get back out on the course soon.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Mr. Treat.
Here's an idea...
see if you can use a wheelchair. I'm sure you could do some sick 360s in one of those bad boys.

Thanks again for everyones concern.
This really sucks and I still can't beleive it happened.
The more I think about I am pretty sure Trey tripped me as I threw my drive. Oh well, these kids are learning early these days.
Thanks again, surely it won't take 4 to 6 weeks, at least I hope not..

... hey Michael ... how's the rehab been ... are you ready to throw again ? ...
.
... I'm sure that Mitchell or Martin would teach you their "sidearm shot" ... less torque on the ankle ... ;)

Mike, I agree with Wayne. Use the injury as an opportunity to strengthen your game. I did this when I suffered a rotator cuff injury with my tennis game & had to learn a flat serve because the spin serve hurt too much. I ended up a better tennis player because of it.
