gottagothrow

I have been playing disc golf for ~5 years now. This summer, I have had a tough time
getting a consistent grip for my drives. I throw all kinds of plastic so that isn't making
much difference. I have tried using a birdie bag. This seems to leave my hand dry,
but still slick and can't get the snap. Towels don't dry them enough. I have also tried
just rubbing my hand in the "dirt" next to the teepad. This is the most consistent
solution, but still not consistent enough.
I am confused why this summer I am having more problems than usual.
Any thoughts out there? Are there products that help with this? If so, do they
change the throw much from the "natural" grip? What other methods are there?
Thanks
Dan

What's the main type of Plastic you throw? I've just started throwing the FLX plastic from Discraft which, in my opinion, is very grippy. Have you checked that out?

I mostly throw Innova. I haven't tried too many other discs.
I used to throw all gateway though. But I eventually had more luck
with Innova. I have thrown very few discs from other manufactures.
I throw mostly champion plastic. However, I have recently started
throwing Star and Pro as well. Even Pro (which I believe is the
best grip disc aside from DX?) seems to not give me consistent
results when I am bothered by sweaty hands.
Again, these problems haven't plagued me in previous years. Seems
like just this year is when I am troubled by inconsistent disc grip.
This could be cause my play has improved dramatically over the past year.
( I hovered around 900 rating until this year.) While I don't think I am a 941
where my current rating is, I feel like I am on the verge of becoming a
much better player. Hence the bigger difference in grip and feel on the discs.
Thanks again.

that's my problem too. I like champ and Z plastic and I've got sweaty hands, especially when it gets 100 and the humidity is at 98%.

I know when i'm playing in the rain or it's super humid out i make sure to grab my chammy(SP) You know the towel used for drying your car off. Those things will soke up even the sweatest palms.

Start exercising your wrists and forearms. A grip strengthener works well for this. Also the Gateway had a more shallow inner rim and forced you to have the same grip. The Innova discs have a deeper inner rim that allows for more finger play.
