I would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations to either of the courses.
Yes, I know, we need new baskets and tee pads.

I saw it last year and liked it more than Boomer. And from what I've heard Hoyt is better now than it was last year so it's a no brainer.

Easy Conners, no one is saying you are wrong.
It is just an opinion right? :)
I mean this is the most publicity Stillwater has had in some time....that in itself is good.

I simply gave my opinion in a respectful manner, if I came across as a jerk that's my bad(?).
The only reason you like Boomer more is because of the open distance...if I could throw as far as you I might feel the same way.

You don't have to throw far to like Boomer..
Ask Big Nic.. :D
Hoyt is a good addition to have in Stillwater though..
If that course was advertised enough, it could draw in more players in that area. A lot more beginner-friendly, I think.

Oh yes, for sure.
But no one supports Stilly....
I just ran a B tier this year....41 players....last year fifty something....and these were big size tournament productions (this year not so much...but still some)....
....my point is, my dad just got forty something people out at Riverside on a Tuesday night....
I don't mean to be a pessimist, but why fight that uphill battle when no one will support you?
Maybe if we had consistent mini's in Stilly....or tuned the Classic into a doubles.....

It sure would have been nice to have some of those ams and recs come out to Stillwater. Was there any talk in these huge minis of taking a trip to Stillwater?

I tried to call you twice a couple of months before the tournament to find out what was up. You never returned my calls. Finally with less than three weeks before the tournament YOUR DAD finally called me. It seemed to me that you weren't fighting much of an uphill battle
Maybe if we had consistent mini's in Stilly....or tuned the Classic into a doubles.....
I have had plenty of minis this year (a lot more than you have run here in Stillwater). How many Stillwater minis this summer did you show up to? ZERO. Thanks for the support.
The problem with the minis is that no one that comes out wants to play for money ($3 is still $3 to college kids ... that's beer money). Don't act like not having big minis is the reason for the poor turnout.
You never said one thing to me before, during, or after the tournament about all the work that was done at Hoyt Grove. Thanks.

That kind of immature post is not suitable for mass board consumption. If you want to say something then be a man and say it to my face.
Posting something like that has no positive purpose and achieves nothing.
I have always know what kind of guy you are Tom, and you just prove it to me over and over again.
As for the content of your post, you will have a PM shortly. I will not respond to anymore of this bull.
Have a little Stillwater pride and don't post anymore of this crap up here for people to see how unprofessional you are.

Some times on this board it is hard for the person reading a post to fully understand the intention by the poster and it hits a nerve. With posting or emails we lose the ability to actually hear how the person was intending their message to be understood.
I think that if they would have had this conversation in person it wouldn't be where it is.
Some times we just have to agree to disagree and let it be. ;)

Maybe I should start posting Drew's PM's to me with all the rediculous allegations.
Again Drew. Quit calling me and harassing me at work. Very childish.
Like you said in your PM. You purposely didn't answer my calls to you when I wanted to discuss the tournament because you "don't like me" (great move by the TD). Fine. Oh darn. Then quit calling me.

Tom, I have no problems with you or Andrew and I'm sure you both have some valid points, but they shouldn't be hashed out here.

This all got blown out of proportion when Tom took exception to Andrew's innocolous comment about weekly mini's in Stillwater.
Tom took that as an attack and I can tell you for certain it was in no way intended that way.
I sense Tom felt that he wasn't thanked enough for what he did at Hoyt. It seems obvious from all of the post that everyone thinks he did a great job. I know I personally thanked him, whether he remembers that or not. I also thanked his volunteers personally for their help.
The flip side is anyone who has ran a tournament knows the "back office" invisible side. The haggling with Innova over art work, paying the sanctioning fee and CFR order out of our pocket, about $1,000, getting the shelters, providing insurance and on and on.
I understand it is tough to get people out for Stillwater mini's and I can't say that I have a solution. Trust me I pushed this tournament at every mini, had sign up sheets available and posted the flyer on every discussion board within 100 miles.
What I do know is that we all need to work together to support Stillwater Disc Golf if we want to see it grow.
Bottom line is we all pitched in and gave it our best shot. All we can do is hope next year draws more of a crowd..

Easy guys - It is a shame that we have gotten here. Stillwater Disc Golf is in a good place as far as courses go but we just had a down year as far as turnout. There are probably 20 reasons for a low turnout. The people that were there were happy and having a good time which means it was a good tournament.

Hoyt Grove is better. Every year people complain and say that it is easier than Boomer, but look at the scores. The spread is much more at Hoyt.
When you play Hoyt, you actually have to get out of trouble as opposed to Boomer where a shank equals a slightly longer, yet still open upshot.
Also as far as putting in a new course around there, Lake McMurtry has the best potential for an awesome course in the Stillwater area. They have those tricky, thick, pine-like trees that remind me of Emporia.
Anyways, I had a great time this year and I hope that you guys get better turn outs in the future.

I was really happy the way OState handled the leaving of LESS Miles but what can you expect from a guy that has Barry Sanders in the backfield, Hart Lee Dykes split out wide right, ball inside the 30 and can't finish the deal against OU. Why can't we keep a solid coach in Stillwater? I like Gundy's passion but can WE please NOT be the doormat year after year. Lets see what we can do against Sam Houston (Formerly known as Sam Houston Institute of Technology) what an abreviated name.
