The route for the tour is being worked on as we speak, as you can imagine their is alot of info to assimilate. The route will be loaded into Garmin GPS units and I will be trackable 24/7. I am submitting a proposal to the PDGA for their endorsment very soon, and I need their course directory info to do final route plans. The short answer is as soon as possible.

Are there any limits on courses to be played? I can't imagine you'd want to stop and play 6-hole courses?!? It looks like you'd average 2.5 courses/rounds per day...is that realistic with all the driving?

What about courses that open during the tour? In 33 months, I imagine there will be at least 500 new courses that open...I've played for about 5 years, and when I started there were only 1,000 courses, and now there are 2,500!

Also what about private courses? You'd have to contact all the owners, which may not seem like much, but for all of them that may be quite a bit of work.

I know that's a bunch of questions, but if I help out with something that was missed, maybe it was worth it.

The format which I intend to follow is playing the courses listed on the PDGA course directory in the United States. Some days I will play one course and some I will play 3-4, but I plan to average 2.25 per day. The courses listed as of the tour start will be played and all the courses that get listed after the start of the tour that are in front of the tour route will be added. I would attempt to play private courses if they are on the directory, my tour manager will be doing alot of logistics for me well in advance of my stops. And I do forsee several hundred more courses being added and plan to stay out as long as it takes.Hope to see you on the road! Peace...upshot

Way to go Circle D!!!!

When you are passing through Dallas/FortWorth be sure to drop me a line. Come to think of it, there are 30 courses in the metroplex listed in the directory(with a few more in the works that will most likely be in the book by the time you get here)....you'll be here a while. :D

The schedule for the tour route is being worked on. With the most courses in any one state I will be in Texas for quite awhile. The first place I ever threw a disc was in Dallas at B.B.Owen park, is that courses still there? How is life in Useless,Tx these days?(lol) Hope to see you during the tour.

Jim Miller doesn't ring a bell with me, and I have been in Dallas for 20 years.

Was it in Euless? I assume that is what you meant by Useless. I remember a temp course being set up for a tournament in HEB somewhere, but that was at least 10 years ago. Was that the course?

No Jim Miller park around here. Can't even find it under the City of Dallas' parks tab.

Bill, the tournament that you are refering to was the 1996 Euless Open, TD: Jerry Gotcher, and it was played along what is now Euless' Little Bear Creek Park. Here's an old post from Me replying to Gotcher.....

...but the best temp. set up tournament was when you set up the course in Euless on the land that was about to be developed. Loved that course.

May 1996 ~ Euless Open
PDGA C-Tier

What fun that tournament was! The turnout was unbelievable. We had 94 people show up for a c-tier that had been quickly thrown together as a fundraiser for the VPO. I remember we added a ghost card rather than turn four golfers away. Blistering hot temperatures....it was 104 degrees on Saturday and 105 on Sunday. After reading Clay and Craig's posts, I dug through my archives for the photo....I had forgotten about the course map!

Good ADGA memories.... :D

That is so awesome. Look at Skipper, Williams, Jendel, Seaboldt, Nelson, Red, Tracy, Lueke, Wimm, Hicks, Garmin, Jared, Rodney, etc..... WOW!

I remember buying some discs, one of which is still brand new. Didn't play the event for whatever reason; probably had to work.

Sadly, most of that area is apartments now.

JG, Glowfoto is good for temp pic hosting. ImageShack and Photobucket are better, and seem to last forever. I think it's time you and Marie come visit your DFW family, and extended DFW families. :D

My bad, the park is B.B. Owen. I have not been in Dallas for about 10 years. Love that little course.

OK, that makes sense now. 1996 is just about the time that the course was relocated to BB from Skyline/Lake Highlands North Park, which was the first DG course in Texas. Did you ever play the Saturday afternoon minis at BB? We may have met there.

Jim Miller is the name of a north-south street in East Dallas.

BB, which I claimed as my home course back when I was playing more than once every few months, is still there, but, as you can imagine, it has undergone some changes:

- Existing landscaping has grown
- New landscaping has been planted
- A new parking lot has been constructed, in the land along the street between tee #9 and hole #11, which is right after you cross the bridge after you play #8, which is by the original parking lot
- Several holes have alternate pin placements
- Hole #1 tee was moved because of work done to the ditch right in front of the old tee

Those are the ones that come to mind. There are probably other ones that I haven't yet seen. Have My Hero send me an email when you are coming into town, since I may not be watching the MB much in '08.

I've been fiddling around with laying out an efficient path to hit all the courses.

I think you said something about planning to hit every course in a state, and then move on.

It occurred to me that state borders don't match well with the clustering of courses. So, I tried to find a relatively small set of tighter clusters of courses. An efficient path from cluster to cluster is not that difficult to find.

Like this:

Then, within each cluster, an efficient path to hit all the courses would need to be found. Here is a path for the courses around Michigan:

Looks like you can get the mileage down to 90,000 or less, including Hawaii and Alaska.

What are you going to do about courses that are added during your trip ?

By the time you finish there could be somewhere between 30-100 courses in the ground that you haven't played.
